- Wedding: October 2012
Hi fellow bees,
We decided to register for a honeymoon at Sandals St. Lucia. The honeymoon registry website works great. My only problem is that the balance due date for the honeymoom is September 13th, over 1.5 months before the wedding. I sent out my invitations over a month ago, and I am very greatful for the 5 guests that have logged on and gifted us money towards our honeymoon. We registered for a honeymoon since we weren’t going to be able to afford a honeymoon. So we still have a balance of $2,900 to pay, and it’s due in full in 2 days. I called Sandals yesterday to ask about a payment extension because guests usually don’t purchase wedding gifts so far in advance (only the organized ones do). The customer service rep said it is possible to get an extension, I just have to call on the 13th (the day payment is due). This didn’t sound right, or make very much sense since I was already on the phone asking for an extension, what difference does it make if I call in 3 more days? Something sounded off. I’ve read online from past honeymooners that Sandals is very firm on their due dates and so I am now nervous. Does anyone have any experience in having gotten a payment extension? I was thinking about calling them up and asking for something in writing stating that they agree to extend the payment due date. I’ve learned not to trust verbal agreements in the past. Any suggestions would help!
Additional info: In the invitations I included a card that said to RSVP on our wedding website. In addition to RSVPing on the website, I included information about the registry, a direct link to the sandals website for easy access, and a note stating that Sandals will be closing our registry on September 13th. Many, many people have RSVP’d but hardly anyone has contributed to the “honeymoon fund”. I know that wedding gifts are something nice that guests choose to do, but since our honeymoon depends on it, I’m very anxious.
