I have heard such extreme views on Jamaica from everyone I know who has gone there — people either absolutely loved it and want to buy a house there, or hated it with a burning fire and would never go back. My sister, who lived in the Caribbean for four years, is a hater. You can do much better in the Caribbean, even all-inclusive, than that island. Check out Saint Lucia.

I don’t know about Montego Bay. But I have had friends stay at the Sandles in St. Lucia and they said they treat you like royalty!!

I’ve been to Montego Bay and I preferred staying in Negril, Jamacia. Stay at Sunset at the Palms in Negril, very romantic and not big at all, I stayed with my Fiance and we just loved the bungalows in the trees….it is just wonderful new fresh rooms and the price was awesome.

I have to disagree with riashay – I’ve been to Montego Bay, Jamaica and it’s beautiful. During my stay, I traveled to Negril and Ocho Rios also and they all had amazing beaches, friendly people, and relaxing environments (well, Negril was a little more about the nightlife, but still…).

Jamaica is a beautiful island. The only downfall is that the tourist industry has grown so much that most of the island consists of that alone.

I’m going back to Montego Bay for my honeymoon, and am actually staying at Sandals MoBay. I had some reservations about staying in an all-inclusive for my honeymoon, because I feared it would be ultra touristy – something I’ve avoided in my travels so far. BUT it’s really just what me and my FH are looking for – a carefree, relaxing trip where we dont have to worry about anything. Let me know if you get any solid reviews on this resort, and I’ll let you know how it is in about…3 weeks!

OOPS! Big mistake. We are totally not staying at Sandals Mo Bay… We’re staying at Royal Carribean – the other Sandals resort in Montego Bay. I read a lot of reviews that said Sandals MoBay was much bigger, more crowded, and more party-friendly. Royal Carribean is supposed to be more secluded, quieter, and romantic.
