I don’t have any experience with the Sandals resorts, but my travel agent (who came well referred by several people) is super up on St. Lucia right now.  She says it hasn’t really taken off in popularity/trendiness yet, so it’s tourist-friendly without being overbearing.  But again, I haven’t done Sandals, so I don’t know how much outside-the-resort exploring you’re planning….

I was in the same predicament a few months back. We ultimately decided on Sandals Grande Antigua because of the “365 Beaches” and the Adult-Only, Couple-Only touch… I read about both for months, and went with Antigua. Good Luck deciding. I booked through VIP Vacations (we have a HoneyFund with them)… They are aweseome.

I know people who have been to both on their honeymoons.  The couple I know that went to the Sandals St. Lucia hated it.  They said the resort felt old and the food wasn’t great.  The couple who went to Sandals Antigua raved about it.  They loved everything about it.

I was not a fan of Sandals Antigua. One thing that bothered me is that they allow vendors to approach you on the beach – most all-inclusive places I’ve been to will not allow that, but in Antigua, the beach is public so they can’t do anything.

I was also not impressed with the rooms, but I think I had really high expectations since it was a Sandals. It’s the only Sandals I’ve ever been to but the rooms were not AMAZING like I expected (I saw 4 different rooms since we were there for a wedding).

I will tell you that the food in some of the restaurants was AMAZING. The buffets weren’t great IMO.

Even though Sandals is a chain all of the resorts are geared towards a different clientele, the hardest thing about Antigua is getting decent flights and in St Lucia you have three Sandals, all three are different and I’m very careful about who I send to which. St Lucia also provides to s of excursions outside of the resort so I always recommend that to my more active couples. Only downside is the transfer ride from the airport to the resorts…so, it’s a hard decision not knowing what exactly you’re looking for…

i stayed in antigua but cant comment on st lucia.  we stayed at hawkesbill hotel by rex and visited my mum and dad who were at the hotel next to sandals which was halcyon cove hotel by rex.  its quite a wide beach/ shore, lots to walk along and beautiful white soft sand.  honestly, some amazing photos to take and water sports life jet skis, kayaks etc.

one thing i would say about antigua is that taxis around the island are the way to go and we might have spent about $80 on transport each time we went out, return journeys.

i visited about 6 beaches in antigua and each one was stunning.

sorry, not really helping but more saying our stay in antigua was  like a dream!

@JainaSKiwlkr:  we just got back from Antigua (Grand pineapple) and it was great, but honestly if you’re on your honeymoon you might be looking for something a bit special so maybe look into Barbuda… We spent 3 nights there and it was like actual paradise. It’s not commercialised like Antigua and the place we stayed was really ‘ back to basics’ kind of relaxation. There are 2 resorts on the island if you’re looking for the resort experience but what I loved was the lack of people!!!!

@JainaSKiwlkr:  This isn’t on your list, but incase you don’t know, they just opened another Sandals in Genada and it looks ahhhmazing.  However, if I must vote between your two, I vote Antigua.

@JainaSKiwlkr:  The good thing, no matter where you pick, I’m sure you will have an amazing time!  Darling Husband and I originally didn’t want to go to Sandals in the Bahamas, but ended up having an amazing time!!!
