@KDOS:  Fiance and I booked our honeymoon with Sandals. We’ll be staying at the Grande in St. Lucia. There’s so much to do at the resort, and a shuttle with take you to the other 2 (stay at 1, play at 3). Our travel agent said they have different theme nights every night (I was sold when he told us about the chocoate themed night lol). Plus between the 3, they have over 15 restaurants and bars, all inclusive.

@KDOS:  I just made a post about this! I found the Couples resorts to be super appealing but then friends/family were kind of like, wouldn’t you rather go somewhere a bit more special? You can go to Jamaica whenever you want!

But I am having a hard time finding a resort elsewhere that offers everything the Couples do (all the excursions/activities are really appealing to me!).

I have heard lots of great things about Sandals but I cannot say anything from personal experience.

@KDOS:  They are both awesome! Please don’t worry about Jamaica! As long as you don’t go wandering off into the woods in some unknown place, you’ll be 100% fine. The Sandals in Negril was amazing and there are so many excursions to go on (the tour guides shuttle you to and from and also stay with the group the whole time). Jamaica is absolutely gorgeous…You’ll love it!

Travel Nut here.

Mr TTR & I are semi-retired, so we travel a lot.

Couples Resorts are all within Jamaica.

Whereas Sandals Resorts are in various countries… Jamaica – Bahamas – St Lucia – Antigua – Grenada – and Barbados.

Of this long list of countries Jamaica is the country with the most Political, Economic & Social (Health & Safety) issues.  Hence WHY there are a lot of AIs there… it is to pull in the Tourists.

Just remember when you see a Destination that has CHEAP Prices… there is usually a reason for it.

The safer Islands, that don’t need AIs to survive… are going to be more expensive Destinations (such as Barbados & Antigua)

Out of this long list of countries, Mr TTR & I have been to them all except for Grenada.

Our faves are Barbados, Antigua, and St Lucia in that order.

All 3 of these Islands are very very different from one another.  Maybe if you could tell me what kind “of vibe” you are looking for… Modern, Clubby, Tranquil, Tropical, etc… and I could tell you which Island might suit you best.

In the meantime, may I suggest that you check out Wikipedia for a general overview on each Island.

And all the Islands have Tourism Websites as well…

And of course there is TripAdvisor… the Best Trip Planning Tool on the Internet.

PS… I haven’t been to a Sandals Resort, but I have many friends who have… they have all been happy.  On our recent Honeymoon Cruise I saw from a Distance Sandals in Antigua as well as one of the ones in St Lucia… this latter island is a real Sandals Destination… in so much as they have 3 Resorts… The Grande – The Halcyon – and La Toc.

Altho I saw La Toc from the Ocean, it sure looked appealing to us:

PHOTO Below… as you can see the Island of St Lucia is quite rugged (volcanic & mountainous).  The Private Beach for La Toc is in a nice secluded Bay on the otherside of this Point.

Hope this helps,

KDOS:  My husband and I stayed at Sandels Montego Bay for our honeymoon in January and it was amazing! I do not personally have any experience with Couples, but Sandels was awesome. I never felt unsafe even on the three outside excursions we did. I have been to the Dominican Republic and stayed at a Riu and I can honestly say that Jamica and Sandels was way way way better! The people in Jamica including the locals outside of the Resort were just so fun loving and sweet. The people there just have an aura of joy about them. I loved our resort because it had a good mix of day time relaxing, and nighttime fun. Our room was at the far end of the resort too so we were still able to have more privacy and quiet if we wanted it. Also the food at sandels was amazing! Way better than the Riu I haved stayed at.

The only thing that kept my husband from booking the honeymoon for st. lucia was the flight time. I was much quicker and only one flight for Jamaica than a flight change and extra few hours to St. Lucia.

Sorry I do not know much about Couples Resorts except that our travel agent said that the Sandels in Jamica were better than Couples.

We went to Sandals Grande Riviera in Jamaica and LOVED it. So much so that we booked a second Sandals vacation while we were still on resort (for 2016). I would highly recommend them. The only thing we heard(from a Sandals representative)is to avoid going to any new Sandals resorts until they’ve been open for 1 year to 18 months because it can take them that long to get the new resort’s staff and facilities up to sandals standards. If you want to hear anything more about our wonderful experience, feel free to message me.

I have no experience yet, but my destination wedding is booked at sandals Negril in a butler category room! So excited. I have heard nothing but good things re: sandals except that it is expensive. (And yes, it is nightly expensive!). We looked into couples resorts but being it’s our wedding/honeymoon we decided to go all out and get a butler, which couples does not provide.

My best friend had her honeymoon at couples tower isle and she had nothing but great things to say about the resort. Her room was beautiful and it was much much much cheaper than the room rate I have. Also couples included some excursions in their rate that sandals charges for.

We’re going to Couples Tower Isle based on recommendations from a friend who went on her honeymoon and raved about it. What drew us to couples were the significant price differences and the comparison of the food. Most of what I’ve read rated Couples as having better food.
