Hello, I got married at a Sandals and used their photography. We had some photos of the ceremony and afterwards we went to the beach for more, the photos were fine with minimal editing done to them. We got a Flash Card and some books to give to our family.

If I could do it over I would have paid up for my own photographer but in the end what we have are fine, I will also offer some advice when it comes to guest taking their own photos because this was disastrous for us. Tell people that you have photographers and no cell phone are allowed out during the ceremony, everyone had phones out and even (shame) iPads taking photos and this obstructed the photographer. Also the resorts have their own rules about having your own photographer (in this case your mother) so make sure to check out those.

I looked into Sandals in Jamaica and the Bahamas as possible options for my wedding. I looked at hiring an outside photographer as the pictures were very important to me and I didn’t like that at the resorts you don’t get to see individual photographers portfolios or anything. You really don’t know what you’re getting in terms of style, skill, etc. If I remember right, the sandals resorts have local photographers that they partner with that you can hire as an outside vendor. I ended up going with a different resort and did hire an outside photographer that I was very happy with. I would look at the portfolios and reviews for that specific resort’s partners. I think that’s the best way to be sure you’re getting something you’ll be happy with. Likely you can work with them to set up a plan, how much time you want, and what parts of the day you want captured.

Here’s the link where you can see their outside photography vendors. Just select St. Lucia from the drop down menu. I don’t know what rules they have about bringing outside photographers that aren’t on this list, I never made it that far into planning with Sandals.

  • Wedding: October 2016 - Montego Bay, Jamaica

I got married almost 3 years ago at Sandals Montego Bay. From what I remember, we had an hour for photos. He took photos of us during the ceremony and walked us to some nice places after. Unfortunately for us, a storm was rolling in so our session had to be rushed but we got some great pics still. We had already set up an appointment to view our photos a couples days after that (they have a special room you do this at in the resort). He took a ton! Depending on what package you buy, that’s how many photos you get to choose. Those are put on a CD. We got that CD same day. Took that home with me and paid to have them printed. The photos are unedited but the lighting was so beautiful and our faces looked so smooth (I was shocked LOL) so I didn’t have to edit them myself.
