We booked our Honeymoon!! After much deliberation, we chose Sandals Whitehouse in Jamaica. We’ve never had a Sandals experience before and chose just a week so I need all the tips and pointers I can get. I’ve heard items like, certain restraunts; make sure to get reservations in advance, or beware of sneaky upcharges on spa visits.. I want to hear anything you have for me! We chose a Club Level, Beach Walkout suite. I apprecaite any pro-tips or advice any of you have! Even if it’s just about travelling to Jamaica, not necessarily about Sandals. I’m all ears.
Thanks in advance!

xoxoxowhitney: the only tip I have is to switch to a butler room if you can afford it! i have never done club level so I can’t specifically comment on the process of restaurant reservations, we never had to worry about those with a butler room. I would suggest getting club mobay arrival and departure. The arrival fast tracks you through customs and the departure offers a lounge with wifi, food, drinks etc. (the airport is Not very nice to sit in for hours lol). They also keep track of your flights and offer some spa services for a fee. Bring cash to tip the people who transfer you to sandals. They do not work for them. also bring money to tip tour guides/drivers if you take any excursions. I had hair/makeup trial and day of at the spa. They did not add any weird charges. They are allowed to take tips and it’s usually when you go to the desk you sign for the charges and you tip then.
We we did not go to WH but we did go to Sandals Negril. We had our next trip booked to WH but we switched it vack to negril. There is an official sandals whitehouse fb group (lots of good info) you could join to get some great tips on your specific resort!

If you are going to Jamaica stay on the resort. Don’t bother with the excursions. All you will end up doing is getting asked by locals if you want to buy things. This includes weed! We went on a family trip there and stayed at a nearby resort, iberostar was great! But locals even tried rowing up to the beaches to sell stuff. The security booted them out everytime they caught them trying. But not before my own grandpa was asked if he wanted to buy some weed too! Poor gramps didn’t have his hearing aid in and probably would have given the guy money thinking he was going to get a t-shirt or trinket if we hadn’t stepped in and realized what was happening. Lol! You don’t get hassled as much staying on the resort if the security is good, but off the resort it’s bad!

grits75: The resort workers will ask you to buy weed too 😉 Not nearly as pushy obviously, but descretely lol. Actually my husband was asked several times and I was only asked once. I must not look like a partier! lol
xoxoxowhitney: I stayed at a different resort in Jamaica but if you can, take the little welcome tour they give you. They’ll let you know all the details about the restaurants and which ones require reservations. We did a few excursions and loved them! Also, at least with our resort, they “bug bomb” the entire place so no need for bug spray. It was beautiful there, congratulations and have fun!

Hi SpringBrideToBe! We just booked our wedding/honeymoon to Sandals Whitehouse too! I would be very interested to hear what everyone has to say about Jamaica. This will be our first time traveling to the Caribbean. I hope you have a blast! It looks beautiful!!

grits75: We’ve stayed at Iberostar too! Loved it there.
LoveLikeCrazy: Did you enjoy Sandals Negril? I’m going this winter.

Jamaica is gorgeous! My Darling Husband went to Sandals Negril and absolutely loved it. He did the excursion to Y’s Falls and the Black River, also enjoyed it.
Vendors can be pushy, as I’ve found in all Caribbean countries I’ve been to (Mexico, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Cuba, Bahamas, St Maarten) so I would be prepared to say no a lot. You get used to it! I wouldn’t stay on the resort for that reason alone.. live a little 🙂

mishinthecity: YES! We loved it so much we are going back again in the same exact room 🙂 Its a beautiful resort that is romantic and intimate. We were on the quieter side of the resort away from the beach parties and main pool so we were able to go have a great time, then go back to our room and leave it all when we were done. The Island Routes Lovers rock catamaran was so much fun (the best excursion we did). Its a booze cruise that goes to Rick’s cafe (if you dont know about it, look it up..11 awesome!) and i did cliff jump (but would never do it again haha), then it went over to margaritaville and back to sandals negril. It was about 3 or so hours total. They even had a water slide off the back of the boat and we got great pics of a pod of dolphins chasing the catamaran!
The restaurants are fantasic. the beach is beautiful. I love pizza and ate bella napoli almost every day…LOL. The staff has the good ole jamaican charm and hospitality. If you go to Kimonos, ( we went twice) they put on awesome shows for hibatchi….and they sing jamaican songs haha it was great.
You will have an amazing time!

LoveLikeCrazy : Hi! I know this is an old post–I was wondering about your experience at Red Lane Spa…? Did you like your hair and makeup? I’m having a hard time finding pictures!
TheNewMrsSmith054 Since you did the weddingmoon at South Coast, do you have any information, advice, or feedback? We’re planning a weddingmoon for December!

I’ve done sandals White House and suggest club mobay for the airport. You go to the front of the line at customs and they have a private area on departure. Worth it IMO. We did a butler but I didn’t think they were worth it. They set up my restaurant reservations and that was about it.
