I’ve been to Key West and LOVE IT! The Hyatt is wonderful, but I know there are adorable B&Bs and other great places to stay, as well. Must sees (IMO) are the Hemingway House, Sloppy Joe’s, and just a general walking tour of downtown. It’s such a fun atmosphere, and I loved exploring Miami as well (we did 4 nights Key West, 1 night Miami.)

From what I remember of Sanibel it is very low key and quiet.  If you are looking for excitement you might want to go somewhere else.  It’s been a long time since I’ve been there though so it might have changed.

I’ve been to Sanibel, it’s amazing!!! Well, both Mr Trail Mix and I really enjoyed the long weekend we spent there once.  I think my favorite thing is that they have a very strict building code that has prevented any high rises from being built due to the nature preserve.  You can rent bikes, there’s tons of nice hotels right on the beach and there’s another island a short drive away that can be fun to visit as well. Sanibel beaches are known for it’s seashells too, which is cool…

I’ve also been to Key West (I used to live in FL, haha) is definitely livelier but the beaches aren’t anywhere near as nice (there might not actually even be any beaches in the town of Key West) but it has lots to do and it’s very easy to do day charters to other islands and stuff…

I like both places, would personally choose Sanibel Island just bc I prefer a more laid-back vacation but it just depends on what you guys are looking for in your honeymoon experience!

LOVE Key West.  Heard Sanibel is wonderful & romantic.  We get bored easily, so chose an adventurous ‘moon of sorts.
