Your ring is beautiful. It really doesn’t matter what the stone is, I like it.
People are just nosy and mean. My engagement ring that we picked out together is a tanzanite, but I swap it between, a sky blue topaz that was a present when we celebrated being together for 5 years, and the ruby he proposed with. (To be fair I’ll probably never settle on just one ring, I enjoy changing my jewellery around) I love them all but people still ask me if he couldn’t afford a diamond. There seem to be few people who understand that not everyone wants a diamond. If he’d have forked out for a diamond we’d have less to spend on the wedding, I’d never want to wear it for fear of losing it or breaking it because I’m just so clumsy. And I’d have to settle for that one ring, I’d feel too guilty of the money he spent and I like mixing it up

I also have a love of sapphires and thought I’d throw mine into the mix! I love the sapphire posts, because it’s all I’ve ever wanted! I need more color than a white diamond on a white gold band! OP, Definitely let us know what you end up getting! Hopefully it comes soon!!
This is my ice blue sapphire on a rose gold band!

You could talk to your BF about choosing the stone together and him getting the setting himself. Sapphires and other colored stones have so many colors and tones and cuts that having a preference Is inevitable. My Fi was happy to have me pick the stone as long as I let him design the ring. To illustrate my point, I was deciding between a cushion step cut and round sapphire at the end and ended up preferring the round because the step cut had dark spots, as step cuts do, that I didn’t know bothered me.

I LOVE your stone! I had a hard time deciding whether or not I would go with a darker green/blue, or a lighter lavender/blue sapphire. Both colors are so gorgeous.

Thank you! I actually debated between this and a teal/blue green like yours! It photographs more aqua than it looks! It goes from steel blue to gray to little hints of purple every now and again! I am completely obsessed with it!
I will say that I do keep it pretty clean and that is the one drawback of a sapphire. When it gets dirty it looks cloudy. So my jeweler actually gave me this diamond dazzle stick (I ordered some more off amazon) and those work awesome! I clean it up about evey other week!

Sunshine024 : Oooh what is that? Would you mind sharing a link? I’ve been cleaning mine with warm, dish soapy water and a baby toothbrush but I would love to know the best method for cleaning my ring.
