Okay bees I need advice. My dress is very simple, beachy, and flowy. I really want to add a sash with center beading, however, I’d really rather get one from Etsy as the salon prices are almost as much as the dress itself cost!
The problem is that most places don’t accept returns on sashes so I can’t order one just to try. I’ve found one style of sash that I really like but I’m worried it will be too large (i.e. cover most of my waist). Any advice or opinions?
My dress (I will be wearing the necklace in the picture as well as pearl earrings):

Sash I really like (2 1/2 inches wide by 6 inches long) will be on a white ribbon:

Another sash with smaller beading (1 1/2 inches wide by 4 inches long):

@starcatcher09: Before you pay 50, 100 or even more for a sash – please know you can make your own DIY.
Go to etsy and search ‘rhinestone applique’. Order it. Buy some ribbon. Abracadabra – a sash for less then 20-30 bucks. (And just as gorgeous – AND way custom!)

Why don’t you go to a salon with your dress and say you want to try on sashes? Take a picture and try to find one just like it on etsy.

And I have seen sashes like that at Michael’s. For like $25

I’ve definitely looked for appliques on Etsy and have not found any that I like or that I don’t have the same question about (will it be too big).
I’ve also already gone to the bridal salon, but none of the sashes had pearls in them, which is what I want.
However, looking at Michael’s is a great idea! I could check it out before committing and DIY the sash!
Thanks for the suggestions!

Your dress looks like it has a built in sash already. I honestly don’t think you need one.

What about a crystal brooch or a flower off to the side where the empire ruching is at (underneath breast area)? Your dress is gorgeous. Also David’s Bridal online lets you purchase and return in mail if you don’t like.
Something like off to the side though?
