I am considering a sash for my dress. If I get it, I will have the seamstress sew it to the dress. My dress has beautiful buttons running down the back, and I definitely don’t want to cover them up!

@WYAtocha:  Which etsy seller are you using? I’ve been looking for a belt or sash all over etsy, and just can’t seem to find the right one yet. I’m not sure yet if I’m going to sew it in or not. I definitely don’t want the tie hanging in the back.

@WYAtocha:  I have been to weddings with brides who have had the sash sewn on. I have never seen the belt with hooks. So based on my experience, it would say it is more common to have it sewn on. I guess the only reason you might not want to sew it is if you planned to wear the sash for only part of the day (for example- wearing it only for the reception, but not the ceremony). Otherwise, if it is sewn, it will definitely say in the perfect place without bunching or moving.

My dress (Mori Lee 4902) comes with a sash that is more like a belt with plastic snaps. I think it works and looks perfect. You may want to think about whether or not you want to sell the dress or sash after the wedding. It would be easier selling them separately.

@WYAtocha:  I bought my sash from Glamhouse. It is sooo sparkly!

I’m planning on keeping mine with the ribbon because I love the bows in the back.

I had my sash sewn in as I had a corset back and it looked too busy otherwise. With everything going on, I’m glad we had one less thing to mess with the day of! If I had kept the zipper back, however, I would’ve tied on the sash… Just to keep an interesting detail for when my back was turned during the ceremony!
