I don’t like how shiny satin is.  I’ve never liked that about it.  BUT…some people love it for that very reason!

I heavily prefer satin but it is SO hot!  I tried my dress on when the A/C was out at my bridal salon — SOOOO glad I’m getting married in the winter otherwise I would be seriously rethinking my dress!

I think both can be very pretty depending on the style of the dress.  I tried on both, but went with a satin gown, which I NEVER imagined myself in, either.  Ditto on the winter wedding, hopefully the dress will be nice and comfy for the weather 😉

I prefer the look of tulle…it’s just so princessy and airy looking. I looked up your dress too, it’s beautiful! Don’t second guess yourself or you’ll drive yourself crazy.

I’ve always looked the look of satin. It’s so bridal and pretty. Tulle looks too fairy princess to me, which personally isn’t a look that I like.

I’m not a big fan of the satin sheen.  I prefer tulle because it looks more romantic.

I am not really a fan of satin.

I personally like dupioni silk the best, followed by silk taffeta, then tulle, then silk charmeuse (absolutely gorgeous but shows every flaw), then silk satin (also known as duchess satin or peau de soie.) I do not like synthethic satin at all.

I just can’t get over my love affair with lace so I picked neither. However, I think both satin and tulle are gorgeous too, especially your gown.

Also, while I absolutely adore my dress, I still find myself second guessing my choice. I think it’s natural when can’t get the instant gratification of wearing it right away. Perhaps the best thing to do is just stop thinking about the “what ifs” altogether and instead focus on how amazing your dress makes you feel/look. At least that’s what I’m trying to do.

@Brielle:  I also like silk dresses…mine is a silk duchess satin.

As for the OP’s original question – between satin and tulle, I lean towards satin.

One of the reasons I chose my dress is because of the satin. You will look beautiful, don’t worry!

Of your choices def satin.  My dress is silk charmeuse so I’m a little biased with it being my fav. I had several contenders that were satin.  I find it to be a bit more luxUrious.

Personally I like tulle! I think satin shows imperfections more easily, and can look a little mature depending on the gown. That being said, I have seen some truly breathtaking satin gowns, even if they aren’t right for me. You have to go with what you feel comfortable with and what you love!

Satin didn’t look good on me. It’s like the fabric was too heavy looking on my small frame. And it was really hot.
