Get what you like. I didn’t have a moment when dress shopping but I didn’t get my dress in the usual way (shopped to get ideas, went custom, went wrong, ended up with an emergency dress I bought 2nd hand).  I liked the plain satin/silk styles best. Much harder to find amongst lace which is all the rage

keep looking until you get the feeling that it’s *the* one.

I thought that feeling only existed on TV shows as well until I found mine!

Another satin girl here. 🙂 I didn’t get “the feeling” with lace or tulle dresses, but did get “the feeling” with this satin number.

I’d say the potential cons for satin include its heaviness, lack of breathability (as opposed to a flowy, light fabric).  Also wrinkles.  But I don’t care…I’m wearing mine for an August outdoor summer ceremony.  Hopefully I won’t regret it! :-p

The top half of my dress is lace and the waist down is satin. While I find mine to be lighter, I do know that other satins can be heavy. I also know later in the evening, it’ll get that wrinkled look. But I feel awesome and can’t care about a few wrinkles 🙂

m2016 :  ignore the poor lighting. I ordered online and had to take a mirror photo in our office so fi wouldn’t see me 😅 The dress is almost identical to the stock photo!

I didn’t feel it with lace either. Mines satin but the skirt has an organza overlay. I loved it. My wedding was in the fall.

I had a satin dress and I loved it. It was really heavy, but it was big so that was expected.
