This is (probably not) going to be short and sweet.
I know there are a LOT of bees with differing opinions (that’s what makes this place GREAT!) about upgrades/remounts. Some would never change a thing because it’s sentimental. Some aren’t as attached to the ring itself and find nothing wrong with it.
I fall into the latter camp – obviously – and let me tell you… I’m so happy with my decision.
I just wanted to say for any bee who is considering changing rings but thinks they “shouldn’t”… follow your heart. My Darling Husband didn’t have any input on my first set and I found myself very dissatisfied with it eventually. I surfed ring pics, got “ring envy” on a daily basis and was always looking for something “ELSE”. I finally realized that it wasn’t something material I was missing, MY something “else” was HIM. I wanted HIM to be part of my rings.
When Darling Husband took me to look at a remount setting TOGETHER and we chose it, had it set and I put it on…. I haven’t looked back. I haven’t surfed the ring boards much. I haven’t looked at a single ring online… and this ring makes my heart MELT every time I look at it.
If it’s not “just right” for YOU… make it so.Whether that means the stone, the setting, the whole damn thing… make it something that satisfies YOU. Who cares what anyone else’s reasons for keeping or changing are. They aren’t YOU.
This isn’t to condone or condemn ANYONE for their choice – the point is to make the choice that makes YOU happy, whether that is to keep it because it’s THE ring – or to change it because … well… it isn’t.
RING PORN WELCOME! ๐
(and a gratuitous before/after photo just because I’m so in love with it!)

PS – because I *am* a little sentimental. My stone is the same, my original e-ring band is now the band for a bezel setting that holds my mother’s engagement diamond from my dad and my original wedding ring is worn on my thumb. Everything is still here – it’s just rearranged to be all … me. <3

CONGRATULATIONS
What a STUNNINGLY GORGEOUS Ring
(Both times actually… but ya I can see why you prefer the remount)
If I can see the feature stone properly, you’ve switched the Princess now from a Kite Setting to a Squared up one, thicker flatter band, and 2 matching Eternity Rings
Question… just cause I am curious, how was it that your Darling Husband wasn’t involved in the first set… was it because they were a gift / heirloom etc ?

@MrsMc77: The new set is so flattering! I didn’t realize rings could be flattering, lol!! ๐ You know I love me a good reset. RHR reset pics, just for fun, even though you’ve seen them!

@This Time Round: The stone is the same stone, but I did switch the orientation from kite set to “regular” princess set. The band went from rounded 2mm tiffany-style to a flat cathedral set 4mm. I also got flush channel-set bands instead of the curved band. I just never was comfortable with the gap. I also prefer the more substantial METAL look to the new set!
I chose my original set myself – Darling Husband told me to just pick what I wanted and he bought it. I just never felt quite satisfied with it – and then one day Darling Husband said he really wasn’t a fan of it, but he wanted me to be happy.
We went through some horrible times – the death of a child, a separation… it was bad. The new setting was to signify our new start and new committment to our marriage and making it work and this time I asked him to please be a part of choosing it – he and I went together and put many things together and this is what we BOTH settled on!
He mentions frequently that it looks so “right” and that he really is pleased. We couldn’t be happier – with the marriage OR the new set.

@wrkbrk: I’ve seen them but I LOVE looking at them – and I really think it looks soooo great as a bezel! (I might be biased since that’s what I set my mom’s stone in!)
PS – how about you being able to vote woooohoooo I’m MARRIED!! YAAAAAY!!!!

@MrsMc77: I personally don’t really care for jewelry, so I probably won’t be doing any upgrades/remounts; however, I’m sure there are plenty of women that do care about jewelry. I feel that it’s a personal choice to change/modify one’s e-ring, but the only people that should care are the ones in the relationship. Congrats on the new set ๐

@housebee: I totally agree! That’s why it always hurts my heart to see people talk about remounts or upgrades and to see others end up making snide remarks about it to them. No ONE thing works for every marriage, be it ring or anything else. If someone finds something that works for them… I say GO FOR IT!
I just find as a general rule folks should spend more time being supportive of each other!

@MrsMc77: I am upgrading in a few months- I love my ring, but there are some other stories i will not get into that make me a bit upset when i look at it- granted i picked out the entire thing, down the the center diamond, but was really hoping that Fiance would choose a different center diamond on his own (he went back to the jeweler several months before our timeline so I actually thought the stone I picked would have been long gone- but it wasn’t). I feel like between some of the issues w/ my Future Mother-In-Law and her giving him a “budget” for MY ring and the fact that i wish my Fiance had chosen the center diamond on his own I want to upgrade it and have him pick the stone this time.
