Blah. Fiance and I can’t seem to agree on a honeymoon destination. We’re planning to go in Aug/Sept.
We were planning to go to Italy and Greece, but those places just don’t sound exciting to me. (I’ve already been to Greece and Italy seems *way* too touristy, overdone.)
I’m into: tropical islands, warm water I can swim in, bazaars, some nightlife, good food, cheap, bargain shopping, culture, turquoise waters, lush green landscapes, off the beaten path vacations, a little adventure
He’s into: 7 wonders of the world, cool landscapes, UNESCO heritage sites, waterfalls, volcanoes, adventure and doesn’t want to laze around on the beach for more than 7 days
Ugh. We just can’t seem to decide on a vacation.Fiance made some comment about becoming one of those couples that take separate vacations. : /
Suggestions on cool places to go, bees?

Mexico or the Carribean? Both have all sorts of hiking/laying by the pool stuff.
Or Hawaii! There’s apparently lots of natural stuff to see there?

@BrandNewBride: We were considering Mexico at one point, but it seems a bit unsafe these days. Hawaii is AWESOME and we did it last year. Carribean…we’re considering it, but fiance may get bored. As far as I know, Carribean vacations are pretty much about beach time. Thanks for the suggestions!

What about Southeast Asia, if it’s in your budget? I’ve heard it’s like Hawaii on stereroids! Better hiking, better bungalows, better nightlife, more culture!

@36goldfish: What about a carribean cruise?
We are going to fly to San Juan, Puerto Rico for 3 days, then do a 7 day cruise to St. Lucia, St. Thomas, Barbados, San Marteen and St. Kitts. There are excursions, swimming, shopping, beach time and lots of things to do.
There are awesome rain forests and historical sites in Puerto Rico and the excursions could be adventurous.

Guatemala (Mayan ruins at Tikal) + Belize (beaches with scuba/snorkeling)?
Or you could stay in Belize the whole time. There are ruins there too.
There are also volcanoes near Antigua Guatemala.

St. Lucia? I’ve never been, but it popped into my head reading your post…

My Future Sister-In-Law went to Thailand and loved it. There is plenty of nice beach lounging, plus adventure stuff. I’m pretty sure they did some tour where they rode on elephants.

Can you afford a safari? You could mix that with African beaches. Cape Town has incredible beaches, though safari high season is during the winter. Maybe a shoulder season would be a good compromise? There are beaches in Mozambique too.
Australia/New Zealand might be another good compromise, but I haven’t been there so am not sure of the details.
Same with Brazil: Beaches AND Amazonian rainforest.

I left the entire honeymoon up for my fiance. I don’t care where we go so long as I’m with him.
