We sent out our Save-The-Date Cards (save the dates) about 6 months before our wedding.  Most people were out of town.

They should be sent out 10-12 months before the wedding, whether it is a destination wedding or one in your area, so that people have time to make travel arrangements and schedule time off from work.

I always thought 6 months was a good time frame and that’s about what I’ll be doing.

Some of my guests are Out of Town and some are local. I’m only sending them to everyone because I have enough for everyone– they were very reasonably priced, so I figured why not.

We sent ours out about 7 months in advance.

I don’t see any problem with sending them out that early, as long as you’re sure of your guest list.

We didn’t send a STD to all the people we eventually ended up sending invites to, just the people we knew we would still want to be there 5 months later when the actual invites went out.  Local co-workers and that kind of thing only got a regular invitation.

Most of my guests are from out of the province and will have to fly ~2000 km, so we are sending out our save-the-dates 9 months early.
