Hope everyboy out there in the hive are doing well.
I was wondering if I could get some advice….
I am trying to figure out the purpose of SAVE THE DATE pieces vs INVITATION pieces and whether or not I send both…
Right now I am thinking that I might just send out the invitations in order to save money but am willing to see what you guys say before I make my final decsion.
Thanks in advance for the advice!

PS if I put this in the wrong place MODS please feel free to move it 🙂 KD <>< 🙂

@KDluvsTB: I think the purpose of save the dates (STDs he he he) is that it tells people 5 or 6 months ahead that they should make plans for your wedding. If you have guests that are coming from further away, I think up to 12 months before your date is appropriate so they can make travel plans and save for the trip. You obviously need to send invitations and RSVPs so that you know how many people to expect

Yep, you are right MrsB2012 …. we sent save the dates out to the people who had to come from out of state. We sent those about about….7-8 months before the wedding…then send out invites to everyone about 3-4 months before….but to save money, we did, indeed, skimp on sending Save the dates to local people…. figured they would never find out, anyways…and they didn’t…lol

@MrsB2012: Ditto. STD’s are sent out in advance of invitations so that people can plan around your date (especially important for destination weddings). Invitations give more details and require an RSVP.
