I’d say use a non-pro pic. Maybe just get dressed up and have a friend take a bunch of pics of you, I’m sure some of them will come out great if not professional.

My two dearest friends just got married and they used a non-pro pic on their Save-The-Date Cards. It looked awesome!

You could have a picture drawn of the two of you for pretty cheap.  I’d say you could definitely find someone on etsy to do it for under $50 and they send you a digital file and you could load the drawn image into the space where the picture is.

Friends of mine used a caricature that someone had done of them on vacation for a similar style save the date.  It came out really cute!

@ktisthatbees: I mean I wouldn’t wear pjs…. 🙂 But honestly I think either works just fine.

You don’t need a professional photographer to get some good e-pics. Get a friend with a good quality camera, throw on some cute clothes, and head to your favorite local spot and take some pics. You won’t get the nice artsy shots, but I’m sure you can get a nice picture of you two that would be suitable for a save the date.

yep, just have a friend take some photos. Thats what we did, and I think a lot came out really cute. I looked online at peoples e-pics and saved some on my computer and then showed our friend and we went from there.

We are probably going to do a bulk of our photos ourselves. I shoot for fun with a NIkon D90 and have a tripod and remote. It will take a lot of work, but hey, it will be fun. I don’t need 100 photos of us in the park.

craigslist and weddingbee classifieds frequently have photographers who are trying to build their portfolios and offering free sessions…check those out
