I was thinking of having a friend take some pictures of us, kind of like engagement pictures.  Picking one we really like and then making a photo save the date out of them at Walgreens or something.

We’ll probably send them out around March or April next year.

We’re going to do a nice photo of us on a dock throwing a life preserver ring into the water.  Then we’ll photoshop the date in the water so it looks like we’re trying to ‘save’ it from drowning.  I found the cutest 50s esque nautical dress, but will print the Save-The-Date Cards in b/w because it’s not a nautical wedding, and blue isn’t one of our colors.  But my Fiance loves to sail so I wanted a nod to that in some way.

Currently torn between magnets and postcard.  I love the simple classic feel of a postcard (and the price!) but since we’re sending out Save-The-Date Cards about a year in advance (a lot of people will need to make travel plans) I want to make sure they don’t lose it!

We are doing sort of a photo booth strip save the date. We already took engagement pictures and I have already made the strips, we are going to put them on the back of either light mint or kraft card stock and tie a bow around it with either twine, straw or burlap.

I thought of doing a post card, but I am going to save that for the Thank You cards. I also LOOOVVEEE this idea: (it is simple and cute)

I made our save the dates using an old map of vermont and photoshop. I put a wooden heart over the location of our wedding and then just added text. It came out really cute. I think we’re going to send ours out in January, because our wedding is going to be a 6-7 hour drive for most of our guests. So we figured the sooner we send them, the better.

@Snugglebee:  We actually sent ours out at exactly one year, because 100% of my family is Out of Town and need all the time they can get to save money for traveling.

We did magnets! Everyone seems to love them! I loved the magnet idea because I felt like many people would just plop it on their refrigerator and notice it every so often, versus throwing it in a stack of papers and losing it.
