I’m not even wanting to do STD but both my mom and Mother-In-Law are insisting. It is crunchtime now. The wedding is 8.4.13. I wanted to incorprate my kids into my STD instead of it being a picture of us. I just hate pictures and feel extremely fat. Not to mention the lack of nice clothing. I’m a mom of three, caring about my appearence has left the building. So that isn’t happening.
I was thinking of sewing a banner. But I’m not sure I even have the energy.
I was going to use free prints from Shutterfly for the STD.

I found a great photo editing program called, PicMonkey. http://www.picmonkey.com They have a free version or you can pay $4.99 per month to open some additional tools. I went ahead and paid just for the month I was editing our engagement pictures and designing the save the dates. I cancelled the subscription and will resubscribe again to edit the actual wedding photos. We’re having my fiance’s aunt take the photos. She’s a great photographer, but doesn’t do any editing, which I’m totally comfortable with.
Here’s what they looked like. PicMonkey has all of the tools to both touchup the photos and add the banners, text, etc., and I used Vistaprint to print them.

I did these, with different colors. I didn’t want a picture of us on our Save-The-Date Cards, because why does someone want a picture of me on their fridge? Doesn’t make sense to me.

@MeStephieP: I love picmonkey. I use it for my blog all of the time. I’m just not into MY picture being on it.

@sosewmama: I totally get that. I love the idea of using your kids’ photos, though!

@sosewmama: I’m not a photo person, either. I kept the STD very simple, in line with our nautical theme, and so far, everyone’s complimented them.
Do you have any general theme for the wedding? (Trees? Birds? Animals?)….as a mom of three, maybe you could do a graphic with 2 larger items and three smaller? Using “my” theme as an example, our overall graphic “item’ is of seahorses…I could theoretically have two large on the outside and three smaller in the middle….so, a subtle nod to the family being included, without an actual photo, etc.
I get the possible hint that you’re into sewing…..what do you sew? Rather than having to take the extra time to sew something, can you use a graphic that hints at a sewing theme?

The idea with your kids is cute. Personally I’m not a huge fan of photo save the dates, neither is my family. We went with a more modern design from wedding paper divas. Do you have a theme? You could always make them reflect your theme.
