@Mrs.ChubbyBunny: no problem! We all have different schedules, so it’s rare that I can sit down and talk to all of them for more than five minutes. I just talked to my Maid/Matron of Honor for the first time in 2 weeks this morning. I remember I use to spend HOURS on the phone. Now I just don’t have time.

Also, it’s nice for my maids who just don’t use email. I know! Crazy! My little sister and one of my bridesmaids NEVER check their email, but they are on FB all the time. They will answer a FB message faster than a text message or email.

And it’s nice that wedding updates aren’t bombarding my normal wall. I know it’s annoying when a bride is spamming up a newsfeed with wedding dates that half her friends list won’t even get to see since they aren’t invited.

    I like @Miss Tattoo’s ideas.

I don’t think doing STD’s are that big of a deal. We didn’t do them, and pretty much everyone has to travel. But as soon as we set the date we let people know and sent out our invites early.

I said no because I know myself I often don’t even see group invites until way too late. An email might be easier.

As long as you are sending proper invites I don’t see a problem with going paperless for an STD.

We did a FB event and some STDs. For our STDs we took a picture we had and added the information to it using photoshop and made it look really nice. Then we sent them to Walgreens and had 40 printed for a total $6. With stamps (we only sent 25 out) we only spent about $14 total with envelopes, stamps, and the picture.

I vote no unless every single one of your facebook friends are invited.  You don’t want someone to feel left out.  If you create an event, even if you only send it to people who are invited, other people can see it too.

If you do want to go the facebook route, I would do it by messaging everyone.  Even better, make a save the date image/card/photo/etc. and upload it to photobucket or some free image storage site.  Then sent everyone a link to the image in the message.

If you are sending out invitations later, you might just skip teh RSVP part for now and let them RSVP once they get the actual invites.

Also, there are websites that give free wedding pages to people that include features like RSVP.  Just a thought.  πŸ™‚

My Fiance actually suggested we create an event on FB, inviting those who are on our guestlist, and having them RSVP before we even send out STD’s. If you afraid that other friends who are not being invited will see it, don’t be. There is an option to make it “private” and it will not be visible to those who are not invited.

I think it’s a good idea. Saves you time and money!
