I used post cards and didn’t use an envelope, but our pictures were not on it.  I think that it is something that you can do or you really don’t have to.  I do see her point, I think that you might go on the side of “better safe than sorry” and send them in an envelope.  Someone might see you name, address, and date an KNOW that you will not be home at that time or the person receiving it will not be home.

I used postcards too, with photos and our names, and saw no harm in it. Envelopes for postcards seems like a waste of money.

Most places to order online come with envelopes anyway.

We did postcards without envelopes. I trust the US Postal Service and am not a celebrity, so I could care less who saw the save-the-dates in the mail. You can’t control who sees them once they get to their destination, so why bother along the way?

I’m having the same dilemma.  I think postcards are cute, but I also don’t care to have the postal workers look at our Save The Date photo.  Plus, I think it’s more fun to open an envelope than to see the postcard just in with their junkmail.

The last STD I received was water damaged and the pictures were cute but spotty. If you are printing yourself, perhaps test this out?

i thought the point of using a postcard was to skip the envelope and save on postage? who really cares who sees your picture.. i highly doubt anybody will pay attention.

I made our postcards with our photos. Plan on sending it without an envelope, that was the point in making it a postcard. I figure the people in the postal service have seen it a million times and don’t really care.

We didn’t have our photo or last name but I still don’t see a problem with just sending a postcard.
