I am looking for opinions or thoughts on putting Save the Date cards in our Christmas cards. Just thought about it after someone at work , mentioned putting together their annual letter to put in their Christmas cards.
Do you think it would be tacky to include our save the date cards in our Christmas cards ?

@lifesaride: Hmm…I personally wouldn’t do them together, for fear that maybe some people would miss them? (Though I don’t know how one would miss that). I’m for doing them separately, but can see the point of doing them together (save a stamp?). Haha, I’m not really too much help…

My save the dates last year WERE our christmas cards…

I would also just do STD (and maybe skip the holiday cards this year) if you just want to do one mailing. So probably not together. Plus if you are not inviting your entire holiday card list as guests, you’d have to make two versions of holiday cards.
But Josina’s came out very nice, not too much like a holiday card, but definitely an STD card.

@Josina: I like those!
@lifesaride: I’d recommend doing something like Josina- a save the date with a happy holidays message or with a separate card in the same envelope. I don’t think it is tacky. In fact, a friend of mine sent out save the dates last year in December and I remember thinking it was weird that I recevied it while I was receiving Christmas cards but they didn’t say happy holidays or send a Christmas card separately or anything.

save on postage and do it! No one is going to think that is tacky!

I don’t see why not combine them.

I really think that Save-The-Date Cards should be held to a minimum. You may change your mind before the wedding. My FDh and I have told our grandparents, aunts, uncles, and first cousins and our very best friends to save the date. We are planning on inviting more people, but until it gets closer, and we can finalize, we are not sending everyone a STD.

We had our STD’s in our Christmas Cards last year, and no one missed out on them. They were Vistaprint postcards with an epic on the front, and wedding info on the back. Then we put another Epic (printed) in as well. So maybe a bit overboard!

Thanks for the input everyone !! I am mostly concerned about save the dates for FI’s brother’s and sisters. He is the youngest of 10 and many of them are retired and travel a lot. So I want to give them plenty of notice 😉 I really like the save the date with a Happy Holidays/Merry Christmas…I will run that one past Fiance.
Thanks for the input and ideas. You are all wonderful !!!

So you already have your date/location booked for the July 20 wedding?
Yeah, if people have to travel then 7 months out would be a good time to send Save-The-Date Cards to those people that would need to travel.

@sienna76: Yes the date, venue, DJ and officiant are all booked. We have 1 out of state and 4 others that will be making at least a 4 hour drive. Those 5 are all at retirement age and travel during the summer quite often. These are the ones that I was considering putting the save the dates in their Christmas cards.
