When do you send them out? And is it not proper ettiqutte to do up one on the internet and send it via email to the guests, or is it okay? I remember on Bride Wars when Emma sent them out she sent it out via email and her friends thought it was tacky lol.
We have 10 months to go….not sure if i should wait or if its okay to send some out now.

I think 6-12 months ahead is standard. I generally feel that the more your guests need to spend to attend the earlier you should send them out. We have a lot of out of towners so we are sending them 7 months ahead. Destination weddings give more notice etc. I have gotten a STD 1 year in advance and I thought it was a bit too much time. I have also gotten email STD and I thought it was ok.

I don’t think it’s tacky to send save the dates by email if most of your guests are tech savy and enjoy modern trends. It’s acceptable to send them out any time prior to six months before your wedding.
Just make sure you are only sending them to people who will be getting invitations and might not get cut off of your list.

@FloretteLiz: yes definetely will send them to those who will be getting invites.
I just need to get the fiance to do up his guest list! His list will be all out of towners…..a few of mine are coming from 2hours away, so i also want to include the list of B&Bs and only motel in town and the information with the S-T-D so they can book in advance. Its also the long weekend (of Canada Day) so I want to send enough in advance they dont make other plans.

You send the STD out 6 to 8 months before the wedding so you can start working on them for sure! You can do them by email if you think that is something the guests will appreciate. If you have an older crowd though it may be better to just do a traditional announcement by mail.

most of my guests are on Facebook, so I can easily get all their email addresses from that……..even the older ones – like 65yrs old are on FB lol!!!
