We sent them 8 months before the wedding. Invites were sent 8 weeks before the wedding so 6 months after the save the dates went out.

We were a little late on them and sent them out at 4 months. We only sent them because I wanted to use our engagement pictures, everyone already knew the date from word of mouth.

We sent invites out at about 8 weeks out.

We just ordered our save the dates (Black Friday sale!) and plan to send them out in January after the holidays, which will be 9 months before our wedding.

We will likely send invitations out 2 months before the wedding.

Our wedding was October 1st, we sent the Save-The-Date Cards in mid February and sent the invitations in july, our RSVP date was September 10th so I had to account for that date. And good thing I did the RSVP date in advance of the 10 day cut off, we had almost 70 people not RSVP so we had to track them down..l

We sent save the dates about 5 months before the wedding. We had a May wedding and they weren’t holiday themed so we waited until after Christmas to send them. Then invites went out about 6 weeks prior, with a RSVP date of 2 weeks before the wedding, but I didn’t have a cutoff for catering. We didn’t have to have finalized numbers until 2 days before the wedding. If we’d had a cut off date for that, I probably would have moved the invites up according so that the RSVP date was at least 1 week before the cut off date to allow time to track down guests who forget.

Sent the save the dates 8 months out and the invites beginning of November for our upcoming February wedding,   So 8 and 9 weeks before. ( we did 9 weeks due to the upcoming holidays and mail rush and delays and so people wouldn’t discard it thinking it was a Christmas card)

hssweethearts2013 :  Most people send their save the dates about 6 months out and their actual invitations about 2 months before. If you are having  a lot of out of town guests or a destination wedding you might want to send your save the dates sooner than the 6 month mark so guests have time to prepare.

We sent our Save-The-Date Cards about a year out (our wedding had significant travel for almost all of our guests), and send the actual invite 2 months out.
