Hi everyone! I have been so MIA due to the holidays! My FH and I decided to take a complete break from wedding planning so we weren’t allowed to discuss the wedding so I had to hold back from posting. But now our little down time is over and we need to send out save the dates ASAP.
I have scoured the web for save the dates that I like. I mean everything from Etsy to WeddingPaperDivas.com to Carlston Craft. I haven’t really found anything I am in LOVE with and I am very stressed. I am going to look at some local stores this weekend to see if I can find anything.
Here is my question though….who gets a save-the-date?
Do only your out-of-town guests get them (we were hoping so to save some $$) or does everyone you plan on inviting to the wedding get them?

We sent them to all of our guests. But if you are trying to save money, then I think you could get away with just sending them to out of town guests since they will need to plan a trip to be able to come.

we sent them to all our guests–but i sent them all via email! I designed my save the date and instead of printing it on a postcard I made an HTML email.
I can see where the cost factor would come in, but if you have guests that would communicate with each other, you wouldn’t want people thinking they’re not invited to the wedding because they didn’t get a save the date.

Since our wedding isn’t until ’11 I wasn’t too worried about Save the Dates…but then realized that almost everyone was from out of town (I live in TX, but am orignially from Vegas, where it’s going to be held)
So I’ve been looking and looking for a STD that I loved and like the OP, couldn’t find anything that just struck me…so I took matters into my own hands and hired a designer…
She is ABSOLUTELY fabulous to work with, if you’d like her contact info, message me.
I am BEYOND thrilled with the STD that she came up with!!

I think you could get away with just sending them to your out of town guests….you could also do an e-mail version to the intowners too!

Thanks everyone! I guess I will see what I like this weekend. I think what we will do is send an email to all of your guests and then save-the-dates to all of our out-of-towners….because really the purpose of the save-the-date is to tell them about the hotel, etc.
