I just ordered then canceled Save-The-Date Cards for my 6.15.13 wedding. We just set the date on Saturday. I started reading posts that people are sending invites in March for 6.15 and started to feel really silly and like I just wasted money.
Is it too late for STDs? Should I still send them or just go straight for invitations? Or maybe email STDs? They’re really cute, but not sure it worth the cost in such a short time period.
Any advice? Thanks!!!!

@NYCowgirl: If your wedding is in June, I wouldn’t waste money sending out Save-the-Dates. I would go straight for the invitations since your wedding is a mere few months away. I am getting married in August and I sent out save-the-dates in February and sending rest the first week of March. 🙂 I think the normal timeline for save-the-dates is about 6-8 months before your wedding than invitations a couple months before the actual wedding. 🙂

@NYCowgirl: I would definately say just go straight for the invites. This close to the date (3 1/2 months) by the time you got the save the dates and sent them it would be time to send out the invitations. Don’t waste the money.

I agree with those above. Just send out invites next month.

Thanks… not sure what I’ll do with the credit at Vistaprint, but after I placed the order I started panicking. Thanks for letting me know I’m doing the right thing…. 🙂

@NYCowgirl: we just sent our invites…a little early. I had a vistaprint credit and got new return address labels with our new last name, new business cards, and thank you cards (for when I start the job search).

@NYCowgirl: at this point, I would go straight to invitations.

@icetea: That’s a great idea to use the credit for return address labels. I love it!!! I was going to try to get a refund – i literally canceled 10 minutes after I ordered, but I’m not sure I’m up for that fight right now.

@NYCowgirl: Yay June 15th!
Skip the STD’s and save that money!

@NYCowgirl: Honestly, you are too late. Invites should go out about 10 weeks before the wedding, so around April 1 to the end of April. Sending a save the date a month is a waste. In general, people send out Save-The-Date Cards 8-11 months out. If they aren’t out by Christmas for a summer wedding, there is no reason to send them.

@Pollywog: Thanks. Oh! And I was able to get a refund from Vistaprint. I don’t have to worry about a huge credit hanging around now.

I definitely agree with everyone else here! We had kind of thought about them at the last minute and by that time decided it was just too late! We’re just sending out invitations, which haven’t been picked yet. We will probably send them out around the beginning of April or so! I was a little upset at first that we procrastinated and didn’t get to do the STD thing but then I got to thinking about it and they really are just something that has become popular over the last few years and its no big deal to not have them, and it saves you money!

Send them it gives you the extra stretch time for invitations. Ordering mine tonight, hopefully they will be here this week and I can start addressing them to be sent out ASAP.

Sorry you don’t get to use something you love. We used Vistaprint to do return lables and used them to make directions cards to go in our DIY invites. Kinda loving that site.
