It depends on your tastes. Some brides like everything to match, most importantly their stationery, however you can chose items that dont match but compliment each other such as, different tones of the same colour or using different types of paper but in the same font and format etc

Mine aren’t going to match.  I don’t think they will clash, but I can’t be sure since we haven’t even settled on colors yet.  I just saw our Save the Dates and liked them – they are cutesy and fun – and so did my fiance, so we decided to get them.  The style of our invitations, while still not really formal since our wedding isn’t going to be, will be different.

We used our engagement photos for our STD, nothing even close to what our invitations look like.

I don’t think they need to match, but I personally think there needs to be a common thread. Like if you are going to have a pretty formal wedding with very traditional invites, the cartoon drawings for save the dates just doesn’t work imo.

Mine are the same colors but not the same style or anything.

Mine match, but I don’t think it’s necessary for them to match, I just really liked the invitations that went with the save the dates I had decided on.

I think save the dates are a great opportunity to have some fun and not worry about color schemes quite yet!

Martha said it best – Save-The-Date Cards are a great way to show your personality and style.  They don’t have to match the invite and they set the tone for the rest of your wedding.

So if you are thinking have a fun wedding, make them fun.  If you are more romantic than romantic.

I personally think its more fun to get a different STD than just another piece of a stationary collection.
