@reynaweddingbee:  So damn true, we stress ourselves out over shit people are like “wait, what?” to, lmao.

Fiance and I are eloping.  But we’re throwing a ‘honeymoon-return reception’ of all the fixings and goodies and drinks at our new home.  We’ve already discussed non-bombing the “save-the-date” thing that EVERYONE has desensitized themselves to due to communication innundation.  We’ve agreed to send ONE postcard from the honeymoon location to the invitees and then ONE evite to the invitees about a month before the reception.  That’s it.  Period.  If someone can’t ‘save the damn date’ with a single notice (how the damn hell did people notate shit on their calendar back in the ’90s and before, really!!) then they snooze and lose.   None of my friends have to remind me twice when I see/hear of their invite, and I’m there at their celebrations.  Especially in this damn day/age of smartphones for crying out loud!  Unbelievable.  I’m not babysitting shit anymore, lol!

ETA, do the glossies and be done with it, I say.

@reynaweddingbee:  Geepers, breathe!!! I made my save the dates on shutterfly, paid $0.69 each and I loved them. I thought about doing the graphic design myself (that’s my actual job), but honestly did not want to waste the time/effort. Shutterfly had a ton of templates and were easy to edit. Have you tried this or something similar?

@reynaweddingbee:  Cost wise, will you be able to print them out for cheaper than the sites that do it? Just curious. My Fiance works for a print shop and even with his discount, Shutterfly came out ahead.

I agree. I don’t know why I bothered sending out my STD cards anyway because I just sent out my invites and apparently the males in my family are ILLITERATE anyways and think THIRTIETH says THIRTEENTH so even though they ALL got a STD that says March, 30, 2013 they are calling asking why we changed the date to the 13th!!!! UGH so frustrating!!!!

We designed ours too (well mostly my FI) and we went back and forth with me telling him “no change that to that…” blah blah. haha. I thought about not doing them many times but I also kinda wanted to show off an engagement pic… and I kept getting “when’s the wedding again?” I’m like hey you’re getting a save the date so hold up. ๐Ÿ™‚ In the end I don’t think it was so bad and I like the way ours turned out. We just sent them out today!

GOOD LUCK! JUST SAY EFF IT AND GO WITH WHAT YOU HAVE NOW. NO ONE ELSE WILL JUDGE IT LIKE YOU DO (but I am also like you fyi).

@reynaweddingbee:  I did a facebook invite save the date. I know sounds bad, but our invites will be more interesting (but also not so expensive). I have a good friend custome designing our invites (she also did our momogram…i love it!!)

I remember the day I wanted to punch someone in the face because I said something about the invitations and they said they hadn’t opened it because they already knew when the date was!   I’m not one to keep invitations and stuff like that but at least open it.

I am very detail-oriented, so I did spend more time than I should have on our Save-The-Date Cards but it was worth it to me. I spent hours on multiple layouts, obsessing about fonts, which photos, the positioning, etc where in the end I liked a design my brother did for me!  If 20% of our guestlist actually takes the time to read it and truly love it, I’m good.

I tried to save money on postcards, but ended up putting them in envelopes and getting charged $0.42 each, with the postlady giving me the ugly forever flag stamps. Oh well, lol.  I think I reached my limit with obsessing over Save-The-Date Cards and at that point I just wanted to get them mailed out! ๐Ÿ™‚
