This thread makes me feel behind! We’re also doing magnets but my fiance is out of the country until February so we can’t take the pics for the STD’s til then. I guess I could start collecting addresses tho. That would at least make me feel productive!

I hate asking for addresses… I feel like it takes a little of the element of surprise away! I’m with you, though. Time to start collecting!

i did vistaprint magnets, and was thinking of popping them inside christmas cards. i wondered if that might be a good time? or is it a bit late….? people may have made next years vacation plans i suppose. i might post them earlier ……

I would be a little concerned about sending them out at Christmas time because its a very busy time of the year.. people are going to get tons of Christmas cards and other mail and parcels.. that your Save-The-Date Cards might get overlooked or “lost” in the mess of the other Christmas stuff.. But if you pop them in the Christmas card that might be a good idea.. Kill two birds with one stone..
I ordered and received a sample STD I liked from wedding paper divas that I like.. and might order.. Does that count? lol.. I should order them soon to send in October/November maybe?

wow, I feel behind too… I have them done, but not yet printed. I planned to get them out around Christmas time…

I just got half of mine out today! Wohoo. The other half are going out tomorrow. I did them through Snapfish and had a lot of success. Like many of you our wedding is semi-destination so I wanted to get them out early.

We just got ours a few weeks ago from Wedding Paper Divas. This makes me feel behind though! I wasn’t going to send them out till Dec/Jan, is that too late??

I just sent my STD’s in the mail on the weekend.. People are starting to receive them now and quite a few are excited and I got good feedback so far 🙂 But..
Lots of people are saying “Oh I got your wedding invitation”.
Grr. It’s not an invitation.. I’m calling it a reminder postcard because people kept on asking me when it was and forgetting.. and it says on the card “save the date” and “formal invitation to follow”. With no RSVP 😛 Blah. Oh well!

We aren’t sending them out until 6 months before, BUT, a word of advice! Even if you don’t get them out before next year, buy a BUNCH for forever stamps! Then the postage increase doesn’t matter! 🙂

I sent mine out in November. There are a couple people on my FI’s list that didn’t get them, because he kept procrastinating on giving me the addresses. Oh well!

I finally sent my electronic save the dates yesterday. We actually had paper ones printed, but then our venue changed and we didn’t want to spend any more… so we just used pingg! The feedback has been very good so far, in case anyone’s considering going this route, and we’ve gotten a lot of messages through our wedding website. (Tip: you have to pay $10 to upgrade to ad-free, but there are tons of promo codes floating around to do this for free, so look around!)
Now to start thinking about paper invitations, ahhh.
