I’ve been working on save-the-dates with pictures from our engagement photo session, and these are the three designs I’ve come up with. Which do you like best? Is there anything you would change about any of them?
We’re planning on getting 5.59″ x 4.33″ magnets from Vistaprint.

I like the first one. The blue and grayscale feels sad in the second one, and the third one is a bit busy. 🙂

I’m not a fan of the whole-calendar look, and the last one looks cluttered to me! I picked the 2nd one!

@bellagio: Interesting – you’ve given me some ideas to try in the second one. I can see now how it might look a little sad – we’re not smiling in that pic, and the blue color…
@bookworm88: Thanks for your input!
Do you guys think the last one is cluttered and busy because it’s more than one picture? Or maybe because of how the ampersand is overlapping some of the text? Or is it something else?

I think it looks busy because of the 2 pictures and the 2 quadrants of text with different sizes and styles going on. Actually, I still prefer the simplicity of the first once, but I’d probably simplify it even further and just use some text instead of the calendar. I think for STDs you can really cut a lot of the wording. All you really need is “Save the Date”, your names, “tying the knot” or similar, date, and location. I didn’t even put “formal invites to follow” on mine since I thought “Save the Date” was pretty self explanatory (although I did get some older folks asking where to RSVP after they got it).

I love the B&W one!
I really don’t like the first one. I’m not a fan of the full calander look. I do think that picture would look great in the second design though!

So I tried out some of the suggestions, but it seemed the more I worked on them, the less satisfied I was with all of them (including the original versions), so in the end I made my fiance decide. 🙂
He chose a variant on the first one. He really likes the calendar on it, and I do like it as well, even though I know it isn’t to some people’s taste. The final version was just a little different than the one pictured here in that I used a different ornamental dingbat and made it a little lighter in color, and I replaced the purple circle on the calendar with a reddish heart.
I ordered them last night! I had a $17 for $70 Vistaprint Groupon, and with 30% off the price, 100 large magnets came out to just over $70. The inflated shipping price was kind of annoying, but all-in-all $35 for 100 magnets seems like a pretty good deal to me!

Okay so I was going to comment, but I see that you’ve already chosen, so congrats!
I am planning on doing my STD’s through vistaprint also, and was wondering if you used your own layout of if you used one of theirs and made it your own? They turned out wonderfully!

@LoveMySailor1018: I looked at a bunch of designs on Vistaprint, MagnetStreet, and Wedding Paper Divas, picked about a dozen that I liked the looks of, then emailed them to my fiance to get his opinion. He narrowed it down to a handful that he liked. Then I used Adobe Fireworks to create my own, using those as inspiration.
I probably would’ve just used one of the existing templates, but none of the ones we liked were from Vistaprint, unfortunately.
