We are having a semi-destination wedding and sent ours about 10 months early.  So we were really early lol.  But we wanted to make sure people had plenty of time to plan and it was a good thing because we got the date over a family reunion, a trip to Europe, and a cruise.  Those guests ended up planning for the next weekend or sometime after the wedding.

I sent mine out six months in advance πŸ™‚ [early Feb for early Aug] if your wedding is in December, I think you’d be fine to do them anytime now!

I did mine about 6-7 months before. Like a PP said, you can send them now if your wedding is in December.

My wedding is next June and I am planning on sending them in September. Its a busy time of year with schools/graduations/travel so I want to make sure everyone knows! Plus I just want to keep moving the process along because I feel like if everything is done the date will come sooner right?? πŸ™‚ haha

We sent save-the-dates about six months before our wedding.

As soon as we our engagement photos done and the venue booked, I sent mine out.  It ended being about 8 months in advance.  I don’t think there’s such a thing as too early as long as you know your date won’t change (or if it’s like 3 years :)).

I sent mine 8 months early, I wouldn’t go any earlier than 8-9 months.

were doing 8/9 months early since its a semi destination wedding where people have to drive more than 3 hours… and I need them out of my house to make more room for more stuff in my wedding room.

@bee_bear:  I sent mine 4 months early.  But most people are only traveling at most 3 hours.

I don’t think you can send Save-The-Date Cards too early! The earlier the better!! If you’ve seriously got a place booked, then let people know! But, if there is a chance you might have to change the date bc you haven’t exactly booked a place yet, then hold off.

@bee_bear: As a guest, the earlier the better. Our calendar books up quickly, so I’m more likely to attend if I have advance notice. It can’t be anything too crazy like a year, but 6-8 months would be okay for me. As long as it is in the same calendar year, I think you’re good. If I have to save a card to note a date on my next year’s calendar, it isn’t going to happen.

I sent mine out about 8 months before the wedding.

Side note: I regret sending Save the Dates!

You’re 6 months out? I think it’s the perfect time πŸ™‚ Not too early that it will be forgotten, but early enough that people can plan on taking vacation if travel is needed etc.

Our wedding is destination for everyone BUT us, so we’ve already sent out the international save the dates, and I’ll have the domestic ones out by the end of this month.

I got save the dates for October 2013 weddings like two months ago, so I’d say you’re good to go whenever.
