I don’t know why this upsets me so much since I know the origins of my ering, but it still does.
Tonight as a friend and I were waiting for her hubby to get off work, we went to Walmart after our evening gym run (it’s right across the street from the gym). As is our custom, we oohed and aahed over the sparkly jewlery while waiting for his call. She needs to replace her wedding set, so it’s only natural that we “research” every chance we get. Sitting right there with all the sapphires and sapphire knock offs is a cheaper version of my ring!
I know there are a bunch of differences (the quality was obvious, cz instead of white sapphires, a more obvious curve between the top stones) but it was a shocker to see the ring that sits on my finger reduced to $58. Even the side detailing was almost identical, just slightly off to annoy me at sight.
As much as it bothers me, I do kinda want to go back and get it once I get paid as back up in case something happens to mine, I just never expected to see a copy of it over 3 years after I got it.

Let’s see your ring 🙂 I would totally go back and get the one you saw to have as a backup or to wear on beach vacations, etc. You know that it’s not your ring & that your ring is better quality materials so don’t worry about it!

You know whats great about that though actually is that knock offs are being made of your ring! You know, like knock offs of kate middletons ring! But whats really great about that is that it highlights the quality of your own. Now you can see why its so great that you got the quality, real, beautiful ring.

Yea I think it’s great, buy it and then you can wear it to places wear you might not want to wear your real ring.

I can understand that being annoying but like you said, now you can have a stunt double set!

Aw, don’t worry! I bought my ring from walmart 3 months ago, and it was discontinued – I gotta say I’m a little bummed that you can’t get it anymore, I loved to look at the reviews other ladies left [there were over 400 ladies who left reviews!].

I’m just linking to the picture since the internet connection I’m on right now will not fully connect to do anything!
Thank you for all the support ladies! When I told my fiance and sent him the picture he was like “Damn, I should have waited till now to propose!”
I think it was a limited release since finding the online listing for it was next to impossible, and when I went back, I couldn’t even find it! All the reviews, not many, were just after this Christmas, still more than three years after I got mine! lol Weird thing is, this friend and I are in Walmart all the time after the gym and I hadn’t even noticed it before.

OP: if it continues to bug you, you could always look into ways to have it modified. then it would be totally unique. but honestly? just try to put it out of your mind. I’ll bet you’ll start to forget about it after some time passes.

@shanaynaynowJ: Whew – I thought you’d post saying that it was the exact same ring and your Fiance led you to believe it was bought somewhere else!
Think of it this way… the classic round solitaire has a zillion knockoffs. This is one of the reasons I want to do something a bit different.
Your ring sounds fairly unusual, so think of it as “imitation is the sincerest form of flattery” lol.

Quality is everything though.
I mean, if your design is really popular, you can probably find a reminiscent steel and CZ version on ebay for under $10.
That doesn’t make it the same, however!
