- Wedding: April 2016
It has been a few days, and it still has not really sank in yet. How long did it take some of you other bees?
Anyways, SO, I mean, Fiance (ahh) and I had been planning a trip to Mackinac Island, MI for the past 6 months for the 4th of July. I had a hunch that was when he wanted to propose but wasn’t completely sure. Mackinac Island is one of my favorite places on earth, and if it weren’t for the minimum 3 year wait, I might have actually tried to get married on the island.
It was my FIs first time on the island, so I got to show him all of the highlights, and we really enjoyed our day. The weather was perfect. He threw me for a little bit of a loop when we ate lunch. I mentioned how perfect the day was and he said “Do you think it could be any more perfect?” with a huge grin on his face. I played along and said that I didn’t really think so, and he said we’ll see.
We did a fireworks cruise in the evening, which was absolutely beautiful. We got to watch the sun set on the boat and it was breathtaking. While we were sitting waiting for the fireworks to start, he gave me a small box and told me not to open it yet. My heart started pounding.
(Flashback to when my Fiance and I first started dating. The night he asked me to be his girlfriend, he took me out to dinner and then we went to the park where we had first met, and he gave me a small box and played the George Strait song, Check Yes or No, and told me to open the box, and he had a little note that said “Will you be my girl?” and a yes and no box. It was super cute.)
Flash forward to us back on the boat. The fireworks started and we both got up and went to the front of the boat. About half-way through the fireworks he told me to open the box, and there was a note inside that said “Will you marry me?” with a yes and no box, and he got down on one knee and pulled the ring out and said “Marry me?” with the sweetest look on his face. I just kept saying Oh my gosh are you serious??? and finally said yes. He said “you will????” and got up and put the ring on and I started crying.
We then watched the rest of the fireworks and it was all just so wonderful. I couldn’t have asked for anything more perfect. I can’t wait to start planning the wedding. We are aiming for September or October of next year, 2015.
And in case you are curious, I got a Neil Lane ring, with a beautiful half-carat Leo Diamond in the center! It’s soooo sparkly and beautiful! The pictures from my iPhone don’t do it justice at all!
I’m getting married!!! AHHH!!!
