Don’t mean to cause drama, but whats wrong with red shoes?

A lot of girls on here do that, I’m doing “TEAL” since its going with our colors, but RED was my first choice.

…find a DSW, Norstroms, Macys to try stuff on in store and then try to find it cheaper online once you know your size in the shoe you chose.

It’s your wedding; if you want to wear red shoes, I say do it! Your mother shouldn’t take your preference of shoe color as a personal offense.

I had a similar issue with my grandma; I really, really wanted to wear royal blue shoes but I couldn’t find any that I liked in time for my fitting. They were all either too short (like 2 inches) or waaayyy to high (like 5.5 inches!) or more of a navy, which I didn’t like with the black Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses. I ended up getting some champaign colored ones that I think are super adorable. My grandma is thrilled. I’m content enough I guess 😛

Here are the shoes I got, they were like $50 at JC Penney and they’re about 4.5 inches but very easy to walk in. They are just slightly darker than my ivory dress.

However, they also come in bright pink, which I think you should go for!

@Sabella: I’ve been very happy with the fit and selection of Nina shoes which you can find in most department stores (Nordstrom & Macy’s) as well as DSW. Check them out online to get an idea of the style and selection.

Also, I think you should still do red. Who cares what your Mother-In-Law thinks about your shoes? It’s not like you’re planning to walk down the aisle in a bikini…

I will be having a similar battle with my mom over my desire to wear blue shoes.  I’m wearing a knee length or tea length dress so they will be showing.  My mom so far is NOT sold on the issue.  She doesn’t get a say in the matter, but I can jsut hear her on my wedding day!  Ahhh!

Good luck!

Why does anyone’s mother have a say in what shoes you wear?  I say you buy your own shoes and get whatever color you like!

Personally, I think it’s good to be a little untraditional… as it stands, my shoes are probably the MOST traditional thing about my wedding haha! If she complains about your red shoes, just say “Well at least I’m not Miss Fish, who’s bridesmaids are wearing mismatched little black dresses and she’s self-catering the event, and she’s getting married by a 21 year old lesbian at the Eagle’s Club and not mentioning God AT ALL… but she has ivory shoes, is her wedding acceptable?” 😛

@Sabella: FORGET the IVORY SHOES… this is your wedding and your beautiful feet should be in RED SHOES! Much like I will be wearing red shoes. My mom was surprised and many people don’t get it. Back in 1974 when she got married, this was not popular. Well I like red and they’re MY shoes… so too bad! There are a lot of “new” trends out there that they will not understand. In the end, you need to be happy with your decision… whether it’s doing it “their way” or “your way”

P.S. I love my mom… and now she’s all for the idea. Laughing

@BoiledPNut: Baha! Thank you! His Catholic family isn’t exactly pleased, but I think if we get them drunk enough they’ll be fine.

Erm, to unthreadjack… YES. RED SHOES. Have you thought about wearing TOMS? They come in lots of colors and donate a pair of shoes to kids in Africa who don’t have any! I hear they’re super comfy, too. My DJ (who is incidentally the officiant’s fiance) is wearing some bedazzled TOMS. I’m pretty stoked.

My mom actually told me she would not walk me down the aisle if I wore the hot pink shoes I told her I was going to wear.  When she saw I wasn’t baking down and I told her it really hurt my feelings that she would choose to not walk me down over a pair of shoes- she then changed her tune.  She now loves showing her friends the pictures of my hot pink shoes!
