We were married at a courthouse wedding on May 17,2011 we were planning to have a reception in December but more like a party to celebrate not a big formal reception. Now over the weekend we attended a 10 year vow renewal and have decided that we are going to have the full Catholic church wedding and reception. I am so excited to go dress shopping this time around I cant wait. I didnt care at first but now that we are married it seems more relaxed and not so stressful. We are planning on renewing our vows on May 19,2011. Any other Catholic second time around brides that can tell me if we will need to do the premaritial stuff? Or anyone wanting to share tips on how to save money on a 300 guest count wedding (all family)? Its going to be very simple just like us. Simple flowers, simple decorations, simple simple simple.

I can’t help with the questions re: Catholic requirements, but i had a pretty large guest list, too, so I have a few tips there. You can save money with large guests list by limiting the bar to beer and wine (if you’re going to have alcohol that is), doing simple favors and finding a baker who will bake a small cake for you to cut and then provide sheetcake (in the same flavor) for your guests to enjoy.

I highly doubt you’d be required to take the counselling again… you’re already married after all.
Edit: just saw that you had a courthouse wedding. Uh… your diocese might actually make you take the classes. I’d call either the priest or the diocese office to find out their policy.
