- Wedding: October 2014
From the start my wedding has had a bit of a Medieval/Renaissance theme (my degree’s in art history and Fiance is a history dork like me). It all started when Fiance came up with the idea that he and his GMs should wear chainmail, gambesons, tunics, the whole shebang. I told him as long as it wasn’t cheesy and he didn’t push it too far (i.e., not far enough that my mom would kill him), I was fine with it and thought it would be a blast.
As for me, I had no idea what I wanted. I kept going back and forth between a traditional wedding dress, and something themed to go along with Fiance. I tried on a corset, and knew that look plus an A-line skirt was definitely what I was looking for, but I was concerned about coverage (I’m busty), and was having trouble finding a bridal-salon dress that was a) in my budget, and b) everything I was looking for.
Cue some internet searching, where I found a woman who not only makes custom corsets made to measure, she’d also be happy to make a matching skirt! The design and silhouette are exactly what I was looking for, and it’s actually below my budget *faints*.
Plus, I get to customize the whole thing. I’m thinking ivory or champagne for the main color, with either a darker gold or a hunter green center skirt panel. And maybe brass grommets on the front of the corset, which I was told in no uncertain terms would both fully cover and fully support.
I won’t actually place the order until February, but I’m SO excited and relieved to have found what I’ve been looking for!
