My pet peeves
When people write ‘his’ instead of ‘he’s’ and ‘carnt’ instead of ‘can’t’. Oh, and ‘there’ when it’s meant to be they’re.
Most annoying saying
‘ No offense….(followed by something that is clearly offensive!)
What language based pet peeves do you have?
When people say “literally” when things are definitely not literal
Post # 4
@nushka: Lol. I think I do that.
“alot” annoys me, it’s two words damn it!
Advise when it should be advice.
“Of” in place of “have.” It’s “I should have …” and not “I should of…”
“I could care less.” Actually, I believe what you meant was “I couldn’t care less.”
The “there/their/they’re” confusion.
The “of/have” confusion.
Misspellings of my name when they have it in my bleeding email address!
Oh! Another pet hate – karat is an expression of gold percentage in an alloy, carat is a measurement of weight commonly used for diamonds. They are not interchangeable.

Also, “irregardless” is NOT a word. You mean “regardless.”
when people say ‘obviously’ when what they are saying isn’t obvious.
‘Just’ is another one. eg im just going to put you on hold or i just need to take your address details. Absolutely no need for the word just to be included in the sentence.

My biggest pet peeve is… Awkward. Its not a hard word to spell.
Aquard <- WTF is that!?
@AlwaysSunny: Lol, irregardless IS a word! My Fiance says it on purpose so that people will correct him when it is actually a word. No one ever takes a bate so it’s really a joke he has with himself. Dork.
For me, text speak as written language is the worst. Are you so lazy that you can only manage to type “ur” instead of “your”?
@nushka: It’s a colloquialism that has entered the dictionary through use. It may be a word but it contains a double negative so it contradicts its intended use.
@Pokemon: Do people really spell it that way? Good grief.
I absolutely loathe the “live, laugh, love” signs people display in their homes.
@Zouave – yes! Hate ‘live love laugh’.
Also while we’re on the topic-
You’re and your.
Proud to say that’s the first thing I teach my class in spelling lessons every year!
@SpecialSundae: I agree about the could/couldn’t care less thing. It drives me crazy! If you could care less that means that you care at least a little. However, if you couldn’t care less it means you give zero shits about the situation which is what people mean when they incorrectly use the former. That one really irks me more than it should haha
When people say “I says” instead of “I said”
Also those “Keep Calm” posters. I hate all of them.
