Looking for SC brides…I’m trying to find a venue that’s not too terribly expensive and would love to hear what you guys went with! I haven’t even decided where we’d like to have it yet…Columbia or maybe Charleston. Feeling overwhelmed!

If the entire state is an option you have so many choices! What kind of wedding do you want? What is your budget?
I just recently attended a wedding in the upstate. It was beautiful and I know the couple spent less than 2k on everything.
More details on what you want would help to help you 🙂

@cora_123: wow, that’s really impressive! Columbia is where live now, I’m just a little tired of it 🙂 I would love to do Charleston but I feel like my budget won’t stretch quite so much there. I’m hoping to stick to 12k, and definitely no more than 15k.
I’d love to hear more about the wedding. Where was it?

The Dairy Barn in Fort Mill is gorgeous! We visited there for our wedding.
We got married at Hightower Hall in McConnells, SC: http://www.stylemepretty.com/tag/hightower-hall-at-historic-brattonsville/
In Charleston we looked at Magnolia Plantation & loved it but decided to do it closer to home!

@alh12608: The wedding was at Table Rock State Park in Pickens – it was a smaller wedding and they did their own food and flowers but everything was really lovely and you can’t beat the cost. I think they paid the most for the venue.
We got married in Charleston for under 10k (well right at 10k). We had 150 guests so a Charleston wedding is totally doable as long as you aren’t expecting the world! We had ceremony at Confederate Homes and Gardens and reception at the Old Exchange Building. Saved money with cheaper invites, photographer, dress, and heavy hors d’oeurves reception.

Have you tried the Lace House on Lincoln? Im getting married there soon and its not a bad price. Also, try Adams Pond, State Museum and 701 Whaley. What kind of wedding are you looking for? Garden, church?

Have you looked into a hotel? I’ve been to a wedding at the Hilton Columbia that was great. They blocked rooms at the venue, which was very convenient and at the Hampton Inn Columbia Downtown Historic District which was walking distance and less expensive. They are both hotels in downtown in great area with things to do before/after the event.

I’m from Orangeburg, SC but live in VA. I’m having my wedding in Orangeburg, it’s a lot cheaper there because it’s Country. I’m renewing my vows at The Cinema. It use to be a movie theater, but now the owner rents it out for events.
