Okay, I know it sounds a bit crazy, but my fiancé and I are giving scalp massagers as our wedding favor (http://www.amazon.com/Head-Massager-colors-may-vary/dp/B001IHXFQK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1362749085&sr=8-1&keywords=scalp+massager). Our reasoning? We both love getting massages (I’m a runner and he’s an amateur body-builder) but we could not afford to buy real massages for everyone. It sounds weird, it is weird, but our whole wedding is deviating quite a bit from “traditional”.
To make it less weird, we want to attach tags to each favor that say not only “Thank You”, but also explain what the favor is and how to use it (I’m sure some of our guests will have no idea what the metal-spider-thing is). The trouble is I can’t think of a good way to concisely describe our reasoning and a how-to guide. Any advice would be most appreciated!

@FigTreePlanter: I cant think of anything for wording, but maybe if you package them by wrapping them in pretty paper with a pretty ribbon (assuming they are in a box or some other container) then it will help it to blend in to your decor a little better.

Immediately what came to mind for me was a picture. Like the ones linked below:
It’s pretty obvious what they’re for when you see it like that, and maybe you could add a note to show your reasoning. Even something simple, like “Relax” could work. But I think a picture in this case is much more clear than if you tried to write a how-to guide. You could maybe take pics of you and your fiancé using them. Have the picture on one side, and your “thank you, etc” on the other.

@FigTreePlanter: I’ve never seen anything like that before. I would just put..”A scalp massager for your enjoyment”…just to make sure guests know what it is for 🙂 And attach a pic of you and your man using it.

I bought that for myself…it didn’t do anything for me and it tickles my Fiance lol
