SCAM ALERT!!!!! I posted a wedding dress on Weddingbee website. I was contacted by “Frankie”. This is the scam: They ask you if you will take a cashiers check, then they send you more than you asked for and want you to wire them back the overpayment. Then the cashiers check comes back as a bogus check against your account and you are out the money! Please never wire money because someone “overpaid” you. Also just because you accept a cashiers check doesn’t mean anything, they can be counterfeit as well. Ask your bank to verify the check. I work at a bank and have seen a lot of scams. Luckily I did not get taken by this scam and I don’t want you to get taken either.

This actually can happen on more than just wedding websites. There was an article in our local paper where someone sold something online, the person sent them more than they wanted then asked for the extra money back. I can’t remember what it was they were selling. I want to say they were looking for an apartment and had sent a cheque for the damage deposit or something, but I’m not sure.
