@squintessentelle:

You’re being too hard on yourself! A wedding isn’t a beauty pagent. It’s not about competing with other brides to be prettier, nor trying to live up to any standards. What makes a bride beautiful is the glow of being in love. You love your FI? That will show through in your pictures and you’ll look amazing.

Remember, your Fiance is marrying YOU, not every other bride. Focus on being in love and preparing for the special day you’ll share. Don’t stress yourself by comparing yourself to others. Weddings can be stressful enough, don’t burden yourself. Enjoy it and congratulations!!

@CaptainKH:  Great advice!

I agree that if you are having fun with you fiance – the man you love and will spend the rest of your life with – that will shine through, and you will look beautiful.  Enjoy wearing your new outfit, have fun putting on makeup, listen to some fun music while getting ready, etc., and just relax & have fun!  You will look great.

Just focus on having a good time with your Fiance… that’s what the pictures are supposed to capture.  Some of my favorite pics we aren’t even looking at the camera.  It’s like our photographer happened to catch a sweet, intimate moment between us.

Speaking of the photographer- if you have sensitive areas or are uncomfortable with some part of your body, tell them ahead of time and they will likely be able to direct you to a more flattering position or angle.  A friend of mine has a little bit of a double chin, so she always makes sure the camera is at least eye level or above, so she’s never looking down at the camera (which could accentuate her insecurity).

Have fun!

Totally agree!!

A great photographer will calm your nerves and help you look your best.  For a lot of the pictures, they will do what I call “prompted reality,” where they will tell you where to stand or what direction to walk in or what to do (“Kiss his cheek”), etc. – but then they will let your natural actions play out from there and let you just be yourselves.  Our photog was amazing at this, and it’s what made our experience so fun.  We didn’t have to worry about standing awkwardly or trying to figure out how to pose because she provided great direction that felt natural to us.
