OK…i’m trying to convince myself that this is all for me – everyone is going because they love us, and want to celebrate us getting married…then comes the BUT
I have never in my adult life, had any sort of ‘event’ that totally focused on ME….this freaks me out. I know it’s good practice for the big day – or i keep telling myself that anyways.
I have nothing to be nervous about…i must breathe
Anyone else out there feel like this, or am i the only freakshow who hates being the center of attention?

*raises my hand*
I have my bridal shower Sunday, with coworkers, best friends and immediate family ONLY and it is causing insomnia! Like seriously, who has a panic attack over this?!?! I can only imagine how bad it will be the week before the wedding.
I am sure we will both have a great time and then we can come back to this post and laugh about how silly we were afterwards. We just have to make it that far!

@MissTatas: Mine is Sunday too…we can both be panic-attack-freakshows together! And yea i totally look forward to Sunday evening when we’re both like, “omg, we are such wallies”

I was just having this conversation with my future cousin-in-laws new fiance (they just had their engagement party, and i just had my bridal shower) – you know what’s awesome about events that are all about you? you have to do very little work. seriously. people come up to you – “you do the hi, how are you, how are things” shpiel. And as you get to that awkward point about what else to talk about – you find someone else and go “excuse me, i have to go say hi to so and so”. So just breath, and don’t stress 🙂

I hate it too!!! I get soooo nervous any time it’s a bride-centric our couple-centric thing. I can’t imagine what our wedding day will be like!

I wish I could say I will feel nervous but I am a fickle middle-child Gemini and love attention. lol I keep telling myself to stop being so damn excited. lol Just smile and work the room.

@MissTatas: Good luck today!
I didn’t sleep well at ALL lastnite. 2-4pm, cannot come and go soon enough LOL.
My girls have a glass of wine waiting for me to have before we head over…just one though 🙂
I got a little sundress and am rocking a cardy with it – ay more ‘girl’ then i usually go for…figured I should pretend i’m a girl for the afternoon, it won’t kill me.

I asked for xanax for the wedding (didn’t end up needing it), and tested it out during my shower. I hate being the center of attention, it really freaks me out. I had my niece help me open presents so a lot of the attention went on her b/c she’s just so adorable.
I have my baby shower today, and decided to make it coed so I can have my hubby there with me to take over some of the attention, even though I know people are just there to see the belly and that’s all me.
Hope you have a good shower!

OMG I am the same way!! I thought I was the only one who DREADED her bridal shower! At mine, I had 2 of my best friends sit on either side of me and they helped me feel more comfortable. Also, one of my mom’s friends brought her 6 month old grandson, so there was a lot of attention on the baby! I was really happy about that lol. Just breathe, it will be okay!

I had a nice glass of champagne before heading to mine!
Have fun & good luck today – & enjoy, it goes by sooo fast! 🙂

I was really nervous too, it helps if your Mom or bridesmaids are there so you have a wing man. Once it gets started its really not that bad 🙂

Mine’s today too and I’m feeling the same way! I woke up at 5:30 today and couldn’t go back to sleep… time is going to creep until 12:30. aaahhhh we can do this!

Sorry you’re feeling anxious. However, here’s a few questions for you:
1. When you go to a shower, do you “stare” at the soon-to-be bride the entire time?
2. Will there be food and drinks?
3. Will your guests know one another?
If your answer was “no” to 1 and “yes” to 2 & 3, then you don’t have much to worry about. Your guests might look towards you from time to time to see what you’ve received, but they’ll most likely be eating, drinking, and mingling with one another the other time.
Try to enjoy!

Mine bridal shower is today too! It’s a co-ed shower so my Fiance is going to be there too which will take some of the fear/anxiety off of me, thankfully! 😀 We also have a 2.5 year old daughter so I’m likely going to get her to help open some gifts lol. I’m soo awkward at any party setting where I have to open gifts. My baby shower in 2008 was rough!!
