Will there be tons of cicadas in NYC too? I just can’t imagine them lining the streets. UGH!

@lookingforadvice77: They’re baaaa-aaack! A big “brood” of 17-year cicadas — which has been biding its time underground since the first Clinton administration — is forecast to emerge from the ground this spring along the East Coast, and will pop up as far north as New York City. “The greater New York metro area is going to rock with cicadas,” according to Raupp. UGH!

ICK.  I don’t mind them in small doses but the idea of them falling out of trees and like rain absolutely scares the crap out of me.

This is so weird I was JUST watching a program about Nature’s weird events and there was one in Nashville where a swarm of these (at least I think it was these) comes by every 13 years and they are EVERYWHERE. Its looked GROSSE!!! I am coming to the US on holiday in a few weeks, I hope to god they don’t come anywhere near me!!

We just cancelled a camping trip for this weekend because a.) it’s going to rain all weekend, and b.) the cicadas.

I had a terrible visual of Fiance and I sitting miserably in a leaky tent, surrounded by the bloodcurdling cicada cry. After this visual, I emailed Fiance to let him know we were going to stay home in the safety of our warm, dry, bug-free home.

Oh.My.God.

I am so grateful I don’t live there.  I would die.

Ewww… I like cicada noise from when I’ve visited the south, but I have never seen any of them up close. The cicada surge reminds me of the part in the little house books where there is a grasshopper invasion and the ingalls family loses all their crops. I’m glad we don’t have that kind of thing in CA!
