There will be about an hour -hour and a half between the ceremony and the reception ( we will be taking formal photos). Since the ceremony is only about 100 feet from the reception, I am trying to think of ways to keep guests entertained. we are planning on a cocktail hour but I am thinking of also having a scavenger hunt or some other mini game.
Tacky or cute?

What kind of scavenger hunt were you thinking? I’ve seen the photo scavenger hunts for kids, which I think could be fun, although I’ve heard that only really works if you’re outside, since disposable cameras aren’t the best.
We are in the same boat as you, and we are setting up a lawn game area for our guests. Our venue offered us horseshoes and cornhole (free of charge!) and we’re borrowing bocce and ladderball from a friend.

Would be a little weird. I assume you aren’t having a ten person wedding so it could be pretty busy to have everyone walking around searching for stuff. I would just let people mingle and eat some appetizers.

@mvg120: Not sure yet…. the ceremony and cocktail hour are both outside… just trying to think of something interesting to keep the kiddos (both young and grown lol) occupied to keep them out of trouble (and away from the photoshoot).
