- Wedding: October 2013
I’ll try not to dribble on but I had something happen which has just kicked in an extra $1500 to our honeymoon budget thanks to a vendor who doesn’t feel the need to take advantage of a wedding!!
we’re going very low key as this is our second marriage each, only people wise though. Just immediate family. The rest is the whole hog, getting dressed up, cake, photographer etc rtc etc. Found a lovely winery and started talks with them. Due to liquor licensing laws etc anything over their 6pm close time is considered an after hours event, and they charge $1500 and up for permits, hire etc. after talking with the owner and explaining our needs, including that we’d be wrapped up after dinner, her emailed quote came through yesterday. She only stated a price per head which was a quarter of our budget, and this includes soup, starter, main, sweets, drinks, service, table linens etc etc and a choice of locations around the winery – can be the cellar, the boardwalk by the lake (we wanted it all there anyway) or a private dining room. I asked what other fees and she said that if we move it to finish earlier, end alcohol service at 6pm and finish up with coffees etc by 8-9, then they are happy to waive the venue hire fee. Suits us Perfectly!
and no there’s no dodgy goings on, since the first time I ever drove through the gates of that place I’ve been enchanted-it’s so beautiful…so much so that every time we’re at our second home off-farm, it’s become favourite place to enjoy a quiet hot choc on a cold afternoon 🙂
