Pretty sure tungsten is scratch resistant, as well.

Titanium scratches like crazy.  Tungsten carbide doesn’t scratch.  Visit a jeweler and they can show you all kinds of metals and maybe even what they look like with a little “wear.”

Smart.  Tungsten is the only thing we found that really doesn’t scratch.  Precious metals can be buffed out.  Gold looks good as new with a polish.

Tungsten scratches, Fiance has a tungsten man-gagment ring. It isnt as bad as gold but it does scratch and can also shatter easily if dropped or smacked on a hard surface.

Darling Husband has a tungsten ring and it’s got scuffs on it. not as bad as my white gold set though. I’d say tungsten scratches MUCH less.

@FutureMuniz:  if it’s a ring you’re going to be wearing all the time, every day, it will scratch. it’s called “normal wear and tear”.

Both my husband and me have worn a tungsten carbide wedding band for the past 5 years, and neither has a SINGLE scratch on them. Darling Husband and I never take them off — we’ve worn them for everything: weight training, rock climbing, cleaning with chemicals, gardening, etc. I have been incredibly rough on my tungsten ring for years and it still looks brand new.

Tungsten carbide is harder than almost all materials you’ll touch day-to-day. Those Bees saying it scratches, does your Darling Husband work with diamond or sapphire abrasives? Those are two of the only things that can scratch tungsten rings.

These days tungsten even comes in different colors. Many styles to choose from, too. It’s fabulous!

I have a cobalt ring, I’ve been wearing it for around a month now.  It is scratch resistant, however I have managed to put a few small scuffs in it.  I work in a restaurant and wear a chain mail glove on my hand to keep from cutting off my fingers. The metal glove moving and pressing against my ring is what causes the scuffs.  I’ve also banged it against things a lot, and work with commercial strength cleaners.  This is why I wanted a stronger metal I know my ring will be abused.  I haven’t ever cleaned the ring and it still shines like it’s brand new.  I think for the abuse I put my ring through cobalt was a good choice for me.

@strawbs:  Yup I wear mine every day, all the time, and it shows NO wear and tear! After 5 years!
