Oh, I love seeing all the pictures!  It’s funny, I may actually be going there tonight… there’s a new exhibit at the art museum on the second floor, and the opening is tonight. (yay for free munchies and getting to walk around the mansion!)  It’s totally free, though I don’t know if any of you guys live in the area?)

And, I’m so excited that I have to share… my Fiance and I are going to get our marriage license today!!  35 days to go…

Has anyone else used Cloud Nine? This post is the first I’ve heard of them, but I’m thinking of sending my mom over to check them out (since I am now sadly an out-of-stater).

@mak418 Congrats on picking up the license! That must make it seem so “real”!! Very exciting!

Yep!  I’ll definitely give them a review after the wedding… so far, they’ve been really great to work with.  Very responsive to email or phone calls, and were willing to work with us when we wanted to change some of the appetizers, etc.  When we met with them the first time, they brought us this giant plate that had samples of 5 or 6 of the apps (and 2 of each, so we didn’t even have to share.. hehe).  They also brought us two kinds of cake that day to try.

And when we went back a couple of weeks later to sign the contract, they asked if we wanted to try any other flavors of cake, and let us specify exactly what we wanted to try.  (and gave us giant pieces… we brought home the leftovers. *grin*).  And we went to a tasting afternoon they had in March – everything was delicious (especially the honey mustard keilbasa), and the wine was good, too.

And they’re also flexible about things… for example, we had the option of either using them for drinks, or buying our own booze and using their bartender, or buying our own booze and bringing our own bartender I think too…  we went the easy way, though, and just got them to handle it all.  We would have saved a little money, but we figured we had enough else to plan. 🙂

Will report back after the wedding with more details… but so far, I definitely am very comfortable with them, and confident they’ll do a great job.  (And now I want cake. mmm….)

And thanks all!  We picked up the license, and it really does make it seem even more real.  eee!  The cool part?  We went to the Groton Town Hall – the venue is on the groton side of the mystic river – and I realized that 44 years ago, my parents also got their license from Groton.  I kinda love how things align themselves like that.

@mak418 thanks so much for the catering info! I think we’ll have to check them out!!

Also, how very cool that you got your license at the same spot as your parents. I am such a sucker for nostalgia and family history 🙂 I love it!

I’m excited to hear all about your wedding! Congrats!

I love the Branford House, but those green carpeted stairs are really unfortunate!  That staircase would make for amazing pictures otherwise!

Has anyone in CT used the Hotel Chesterfield, a B&B in Stamford, CT?  I’m considering them for a small, intimate wedding of around 40.

I’ve been looking at Saltwater Farm Vineyards as well. Anyone have any good scoop on it? I’m trying to make the decision between there and a location in the New Haven Area. Help!

@plantains: We’ve been to visit. Mostly scoop on pricing and vendors that are willing to work with you. I’ve talked to some vendors and gotten some not all out rude, but less willing to work around a budget.
