I recently got married at the Seaport and have to share my experience. The Lighthouse room, my planner, and the food was delicious (many guests said it was the best they’ve had at a wedding!). I loved everything about the wedding. The hotel itself on the other hand was awful.
They were hosting a conference of what appeared to be unsupervised delinquent teenagers. My guests were subjected to foul language in common areas, people dressed inappropriately chain smoking outside (wearing only bathrobes in the middle of winter) and being woken up in the night by obnoxious guests hanging out in the hallways. There was also a sign prominently displayed stating that the guests of the other conference had damaged a room (why the hotel announced it, I’m not sure. The conference was of young AA members, so they weren’t drunk, so I don’t know why they behaved this way).
My room and my mothers rooms were not ready (making us late for the rehearsal) along with many of our guests- we were also told we would be put on the same floor, but were spread throughout the hotel.
I guess the moral of the story is, check what other events are being held at your venues. I loved my experience during the wedding and would recommend the Lighthouse Room, but I was mortified that our guests were subjected to that kind of trashy environment before and after the event.
