Tomorrow morning we are going to start the search for our (my boyfriend and I) first apartment. We only have one place to go tomorrow, but I really like the location and what I know of it already, especially the price range for our college budget. We most likely won’t sign a lease tomorrow, I would like to at least look at a few other places, but I’m so excited to start looking. It’s such a big step for us to take.
Mostly I just wanted to post how excited I am, and figured the bees would be ones to understand! But also, if anyone has suggestions for apartment searching with your significant other let me know. I’ve never had to worry about what someone else’s tastes were when it came to where I lived. Also, if anyone has any suggestions for things to ask the people showing us around, let me know. Any advice would be great!

How exciting!!! This sounds like silly advice, but Fiance and I came up with a code word when we were looking at apartments for if one of us didn’t like it. I tend to fall in love with places easily, and he’s always really positive about the apartment if the leasing agent is around – so I would think he loved a place and then we get out to the car and he’s like “That place was terrible!”
So, we came up with a silly (but relevant and not completely strange) phrase that let one of us know that the other didn’t like the place, so no one got their hopes up!!

Oh that’s a really good idea! Especially since I know with my excitement I’ll probably fall in love with every apartment, and he’s way more rational so this could definitely be a necessary “tool” for us to use.

@GatorKate – Yup! You sound just like us, haha. My fiance actually looks at whether or not the place makes sense for us, I kind of walk in and go “Ooh, it’s pretty and clean! I like it!”
