I am getting married on July 1, 2012 at the Lighthouse in Chelsea Piers. I know I don’t have to think about my vendors for awhile, but I am very excited (obviously hehe) and want to get the ball rolling.
Looking for recommendations in the NYC area for:
1. Inexpensive STD/invitations
2. A make-up artist for a reasonable price
3. A band (between $5,000-$7,000)

I would check out vistaprints for your paper goods. They have great prices. I have gotten all my paper from there. One tip: sign up for the mailing list (business if they have a seperate one yet). Don’t sign up for the wedding samples or sign up for them on a different email address. If you do they will only send you the wedding deals, which are not as good as the business deals for the same products.

It is never to soon to get the “ball rolling” when it comes to planning your wedding.
As tksjewelry stated, vista print might work for you. A lot of bees have used them. I didn’t use them for anything wedding because I have used them in the past and I was not impressed with the quality of their products and also, once you give them your email, you get inundated with emails from them.
If you are at all craft oriented, I suggest the DIY route. There are a lot of great tutorials on the web and on the bee for just about anything you could think of wanting to make for your wedding. For my Save-The-Date Cards, I used magnetstreet.com to get some magnets and then I DIYed a card with an engagement picture to spruce them up a bit. I also DIYed my invitation suite.
I can’t help with the band or makeup artist because I don’t live in your area.

@criscamz: if you aren’t a DIY’er you should look into paper products on Etsy. They have some very creative vendors there and their prices are quite reasonable. Also in re: to starting early, pls keep this in mind. If you book now you lock in 2010 prices. In 6 months those prices will increase and then another 6 months they’ll probably increase again, etc….

@tksjewelry: Thanks so much! I am not familiar, but I can’t wait to check out vistaprints today!
@noritake22: I love the DIY route, but I don’t think I am crafty enough :/.. I have seen magnetstreet before and was considering using them for the STD. Glad to know you like the company!
@jackie-o: Love the Etsy suggestion! I am a frequent visitor of the site and so happy you pointed that out to me. Also, great tip about locking into 2010 prices! Hopefully, I will get lucky in that regard.
@pitbullover: I’m glad you also recommend vistaprints and Etsy!!
So happy I have options for the STD/Invitations! Now I need some NYC brides to help me with a band and a make-up artist 🙂
